Vincent Price

Was reading Rain's blog over at http://www.rainfrances.com/ and she has done a watercolor of Vincent Price. It was great. That sent me off to the web to do some reading up on ole Vincent the Man of Horror!

Now I bet Rain would love knowing that Vincent he graduated with
a degree in English and a minor in Art History from Yale.
He was also an art collector and arts consultant with a degree in art
history, and he lectured and wrote books on the subject. The Vincent
Price Art Museum in East Los Angeles  is named in his honor.
He was also a noted gourmet cook.

Price’s grandfather secured the family fortune by inventing the first cream of tartar-based baking powder. He sold this under the name Dr. Price’s Baking Powder. On top of that, his father owned the National Candy Company. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill for young Price!

One of Price’s ancestors was the first white child born in Massachusetts, as he was born aboard the Mayflower when it landed in Provincetown Harbor.

Price has been awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to television and film. And some actors can’t even get one!

One of Price’s last roles was in Edward Scissorhands, in which he played a mad scientist. Classic. The role was meant to be longer, but Price was suffering from health problems during shooting and had to take it easy.

Price wrote 8 books, 3 were cook books.

Price appeared in 115 movies, 39 TV shows but some of those shows he appeared on more then once, like the Red Skeleton Show. He appeared in 9 Theater shows.

Born in 1911 and died in Oct. 1993at the age of 82. He was married 3 times and had two children.

Here is the home that Price lived in from 1955 till his death. It went up for sale in Aug. 2019 and was listed for 21 million. Built in the 1920's.

I didn't know about his father's business acumen. Thank you for sharing. Vincent Price was a national treasure. I still adore the 'rap' he did for Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' and the horror/comedy "The Raven" is one of our favorite all time movies. :) Be well, my dear.
The Dad always liked his movies and wow, what a house, I could sure relax there!

I LOVE this post Pam!! :) Thank you! I'm very aware of everything about Vincent Price! He was a wonderful person. I have one of his cookbooks and I also have a book he wrote called "The Book of Joe" - it's a book about him and his dog Jo and it's wonderful. He's a pet lover too. :))
