True Story Tuesday - The Pickle

Image
Ladies you know how it is when you are pregnant you do get those cravings….they do exist! When I was pregnant with my daughter who is now 29 years old, I loved chocolate éclairs! They were so yummy. I have never had a craving for sweet’s before then and only once since then (peri menopause), I could take them or leave them but this craving I could not seem to leave! If I remember correctly that was the only craving I had while I carried Amber. Cory was a bit different. When I carried him 23 years ago I craved dill pickles! Maybe that was the difference between girl (sweets) and boy (sour)! Who knows….. Anyway, I loved a good dill pickle and I pretty much had one to two a day. Yes ladies, I took in all that salt. But let me also say that I barely gained over 20 lbs with Cory, with Amber it was 53 (all those éclairs)!!! I will never forget being at work one day and going to the fridge to get my last pickle in the jar. Okay, it was so bad that I actually carried a jar of pickles to work ...

Homemade Fruit Smoothies

Image
Lately I have been doing my best to try and get all my fruit and veggies in during a days time. The veggies are usually taken in during my lunch or dinner but the fruit is another story. So to make things easier I have been making fruit smoothies for breakfast. This is killing two birds with one stone so to speak…..I am getting my fruit in and I am eating healthier, cutting out stops in to work at the local fast food place. My smoothies are never the same cause I just sort of tosh in the fruit I have handy at the time or that I think would work well together. No…I am not your basic banana smoothie, or a basic blueberry one……I do a lot of mixing. Yesterday my day was off a bit with a test I was going through so I did not have breakfast instead I had my smoothie for dinner. This is what I threw in there this time….. 1 whole banana A handful of blueberries that I had put in the freezer A handful of strawberries that I also had in the freezer(I find I don’t waste as much if I put things i...

Signs of Spring

Image
Writting this post for my friend Nancy who lives on the furthest tip of Ohio. She told me yesterday when I told her about the signs of spring that she still see's snow as she looks out her window.....YIKES! Look Nancy....we have green stuff popping up all over! I was out and about today, without my camera of course...shame on me. I saw buttercups in bloom and a tree that is budding out all over with red buds. I came home and decided to walk the yard with my camera and see what signs of spring I could find. Sorry folks not good with the official names of these things but I do know what we call them here in TN..... This is a Lambs Ear. The leaves feel so soft and fuzzy....like a lambs ear. Next peeking up out of the ground around the shed is one version of a Hostas. These are my smaller ones, green and white in color. And look I already have leaves on my Butterfly bush. This is my hydrangea bush with its little3 budding leaves. Buttercups that grow wild along side the creek. And ...

Thank You Very Much Thursday

Image
Oh yeah, its that time of week again where we give that heart felt THANK YOU VERY MUCH post, the one where we thank all those things, people and events that caused us distress over the past week. When finished reading this, jump on over the Kmama’s at The Daily Dribbles to read, vent and enjoy the fun. Thank you very much for that person in Goodwill that parks a buggy in the center of a narrow aisle and steps over just a bit to look at the clothes rack…blocking both not only the center but the side also preventing you from going around. Thank you very much for that whining mood my grandson was in when I picked him up last Saturday to come stay the night. But a true heart felt thank you to him for getting over that mood. this is him being sweet Thank you very much for that other person but this time in Walmart that just decides to stop and block that aisle so I can’t get around. Thank you very much for the child that had the sniffles, coughing and crying in the buggy at Walmart last ni...

True Story Tuesday - Joe's Crab Shack

Image
A few years back I was in Florida visiting friends a few days after my February birthday. While I was there Michael decided that for my birthday several of us would go to Joe’s Crab Shack for my birthday……. You have to understand this relationship a bit before I go any further with this story. Michael and I were old high school friends, we went 26 years with no contact then we reconnected via our school website. I live in Nashville and he lives in Jacksonville. So it was a long distance relationship with him driving here and me flying there. Michael has a beautiful daughter by his ex wife Tammy. He and his ex- wife had a good relationship. Anyway, on the trip to Joe’s Crab Shack was Michael, his daughter, his ex wife, Tammy and I. Little did I know that Tammy had told the waitress that it was my birthday, so after dinner they came to the table to sing to me……I so hate that stuff. But at Joe’s you don’t just get a song, you have to perform. Yes, I said I had to perform! I had a choice...
