The Trail, Steps, Mts., TOP, The Forgotten, and Railroad Tie Nails

Well, I did something I never thought
I would be doing, something I
never really gave a lot of thought
to at all. I walked the Appalachian
Trail.

Oops, I might hve not told
that last statement
correctly,
I walked a MILE
of the trail.
Yep, just a mile, but look
at me,
A MILE,
UP HILL
and
DOWN HILL.
On each side of the top of the trail,
there were steps, steep steps at
times. So steep that stepping down
to the other was a challenge for
this short lady!

But man was it pretty at the
very, tippy top of Max Patch NC.

When I say very TOP, I mean
I was  approximately 4,626–4,629
feet (1,410–1,411 meters) above sea level.

Beautiful.
Look at the view, and that
is why they call them the
Blue Ridge Mts.

I was not alone in my trip to
the top,
my sil, Lori was with me.
Ray's allergies were messing with him
so, he stayed in the car and napped.

This is mine and Lori's
prove we were there.

Got a tad windy for
a min there.
Going down the hill the
talking had stopped, and
I threw the camera up over
my shoulder to check to see if
Lori was still with me...
LOL, not really, just
wanted this shot.

After the trail we were
heading back to cabin when we
stopped behind an old general
store. Lots of flooding here
in this area since this sits
right on the river.
We took at walk back behind the
old place to a graveyard.

Graveyard of
TRUCKS.

Favorite shot of the day,
truck peeping out from behind
a tree.

Also made it home with about six
to eight or so railroad tie
nails!

Beautiful photos. That would have been awesome to be there. Walking a mile, I'm impressed. These days that would just about do me in...lol Love all the photos of those old abandoned trucks too.

I have always wanted to walk part of that trail. I have read so many stories about it over the years. Lucky you...even if it was a short walk YOU DID IT! What a fun little 'find'-the railroad spikes. xo Diana

Wonderful walk you had!

WOW - how cool to say you walked the Appalachian Trail! Now was it a mile each way or a mile total? Either way, BRAVO!!! That is fabulous!
Love the truck photos, too.

It was an accurate statement. Just because it was a mile, it was still the trail. I would do something similar. No desire to spend however long it would be to walk the whole thing. That way madness lies.

Cool! Good on you, my dear. I'm amazed that my sedentary husband once went on a week long hike in Appalachia. It's a miracle if he gets out the front door now.
How absolutely wonderful! And the photos are beautiful.
