Humane Shelter, White Bluff, Charlotte and Jam, Coffee and Ant Hills

From my house, and out of my
county into Dickson Co., through the city
of Dickson and out to the city of
Charlotte there is an Amish store that I
love going in.

The other day, sitting here at the house
without internet, when I have other things
that I could be doing, I decided I needed
to leave the house.
Then the question was, where
to go?
Into Dickson Co., or the other way into
Maury county, which by the way,
where I live sits just about on each line.

With no decision made, I got in the
car and headed to get gas.
Then I weighted the direction,
and since I had donations for the
humane society and ours is not open yet,
I opted for Dickson's society.

On a side note, donations did not
get delivered, cause I ventured off into
another direction of Dickson that I have not
been to in 30 yrs or so.
I went to white Bluff Tn.
They had some interesting places to eat
lunch and it was lunch time.
I stopped at one place, and I
prob will not be going back, it
was just okay.
I wanted to see what thrifting
was to be done but after 1/2 my
meal eaten I was so sleepy.
I just Wanted a nap but then I remembered
I have been needing vanilla.
The Amish store in Charlotte has a large
bottle for pure vanilla for less than
nine bucks, so with leaving White Bluff, I saw
the sign to Charlotte.
Hit Charlotte, and right there on the
main road heading in from the direction
I usually come from was the
store.

Scrolling up and down the aisles I spotted
jelly, jams and preserves.
When the ice storm of Jan. 2026,
and the loss of everything in my fridge.,
I lost my jelly and have not bought
anymore till I hit this store.

Being in the mood to try something
different, I scanned all the types
on the shelves. Wow, some of these
names on the jars makes you wonder
what is in them.

That caught me reading labels.
And wanting some, I knew I did not
want a larger jar so I opted for the smaller,
just in case I did not like what I bought.

Really, tomato jam???
Really?

Or bacon jam?
I don't know about that.

I purchased a watermelon jam, and
a blueberry blazing jam.
Watermelon is okay, and I have really
decided that there is just no way
that watermelon anything is as
good as the real thing.
But the blueberry blaze...
oh I am loving that. I consist
of blueberries of course and
jalapeno peppers. That mix did not
sound like it should work together but,
it does. Jalapeno's have just enough
kick, not so little you can't taste it and
not so much it burns badly.
It has the enough burn.
I really wanted to get some blueberry
cheddar cheese but, I sampled last time
I was in there, but the cost is
crazy. I left that in the cheese counter.

I am knowledgeable on coffees.
I did not start drinking it till I
was in my early 30s and I am not a
black coffee drinker.
Sugar is a must and a flavored
coffee is the thing. Either
flavored as its made or with the
use of my creamer.

With that said, can someone explain
the difference between
Breakfast blend,
dark roast, med roast,
caribbean, colocmbian
and just regular coffee?

If it did not cost and arm and leg I
would purchase one of each and test them,
but....not done.

When I was out the other day I
saw these two high rise ant
condos.
Wow, I would hate to step in
one of these.

I don't know if I explained this
before but last yr I was getting
high rise condos. This yr, they seem to
gotten wise to me treated the
high rise condos with fire ant killer, so
they started building low and spreading
them out. I am learning, fire ants are
not stupid.  I have also gotten tired
of treating them for what says it will kill
fire ants when the truth is, it is almost
impossible to kill them.
The travel via tunnels under ground,
keeping the queen low in the tunnel.
Disturbing the mound causes the workers
to rush and grab her, moving her via
tunnels to a safe spot. I have opted for
using scalding hot water, in hopes that gets
to the queen.

Best of days to you,
Pam
