It Fit, Flowers, Birdfeeder, Fred, Tomatoes

 You know the saying,
"if it fits, I sit"...
So, Lily sits.
And continues to lay there for
an hour of so.

Flowers are popping out all
around. This is what is
called a
Carolina False-dandelion
and they grow wild this yr
in my yard.

This is a Brown Eye Susan,
coming up from seeds dropped
last yr.
This is what is called a
Crow Garlic.
Yes, wild in the yard.

Growing wild in between
my yard and neighbors yard.
So cool, they all have three
blooms on one stem.
According to Google
this is a Verbesina Helianthoides
commonly known as yellow crownbeard or
gravelweed. What a name for a pretty
bloom. It is a native species in the
aster family.

This also is growing between
the yards. Milkweed, the Monarch
will have this place for laying
eggs.

Last yr when I purchased this
feeder, I hung it on the front
porch but I wanted to move it
around back. I did and I put it
on the base of the deck, it
was driving the girls nuts.
The birds would come in to
perch on the feeder, then
some make it under the deck.
I have caught Misty looking
between the cracks to see the
birds that fly under it.
To make things easier on them,
I moved it out to its own pole.
Girls can still see the birds but
they don't appear to be flying into
them or under the deck.

This seems to be working out
great. But the way these
finches eat, I might need to
get a job.

I went out and did some work
in a steady rain yesterday. Keeps
me cool like that.
While in the yard I ran into
Fred. well, he actually almost
ran into me when he jumped in front
of me.

Now back to my yard.
Just a week ago, these were tiny,
then came about six days of
rain. Wow, they popped up fast.

One of the chores I did in the rain
was to weed on the bed around
the mailbox. There were plants coming
in, NO grass. After the rains,
it was full of grass that shot up
fast and long.
That done, then I moved
to my bricks and laid them out
for a firepit.
NO PICS.

But I do have a pic of the
wildflower BED.

Oh my gosh, it is coming in
really thick.

Not sure at this point, these
are either Brown Eye or
Sunflower from seeds that
fell last yr.

Whatever they are, they are
covered in blooms. This also was
not the case till the rain came in.

Amazing that I can water everyday,
but it just will not do what
rain will do.

Three tomatoe plants
and I counted
seven maters already.

My favorite is
the Cherokee Purple.
Really the ugliest maters,
but the taste is amazing.
I have found though that I have
no luck in my plants producing more
than three or four maters.
Next favorite is a good ole
juicy Cherry Tomatoe.
Don't mistake Cherry ones for
grape ones.
I don't care for the grape ones,
they are not as sweet.

What is your favorite?
Have you ever had a tomato,
mayo and salt sandwich?
I can't wait for a big enough one
to get ripe on my vine.

I got some gourds last fall
for the Halloween season, i
saved them and popped the seeds
in some dirt in a pot. When they
started to come up I knew I
needed to plan for them to grow.
Thought was make something for them
to grow up, but then I remembered this
shelve unit that was not being  used.
That is now placed there for it to
grow up.

Thinking I need to get some steppingstones
to sit the pots on.
My planning brain has been at it
all morning, I need to stop!
lol

Have a great Sunday,
Pam

I enjoyed the trip around your Garden and what's coming up, so very Green, in the Desert it's difficult to get things to grow lush even tho' we do have a year round growing season, keeping things from frying in the heat is a challenge. This season I've had good luck with Herbs, potted, and on the Front Porch.

Your yard is thriving. So much going on around you. I love any kind of tomato and yes I've had a tomato and salt sandwich with mayo of course.
