Grinders Switch, Beth Slater Whitson, Narrow Hwy, Abandoned, Rays, Mailbox, Rust and Town
Once I finish up with these
first few pics, this will
cover my first day of
riding around with my
camera.
I have been here before...
But the home of Minnie Pearl does not
stand anymore.
I am certain that I
have mentioned that she is
from Centerville Tn.
Course, you know, that Johnny Cash
lived in Hickman Co. although he was
not from here.
I also learned that Beth Slater
Whitson lived in this area.
Wow, how neat is it to learn
that someone back in the day,
lived here also.
How interesting.
In this area our highways
from city to city are nice two
lanes, however, the original highways
are broken up and you can get on
them just about anywhere.
I hit highway 48, the original
highway 48 and was shocked
at how narrow the actual road is.
Amazing!!
Talk about traveling the
back narrow roads of Hickman
County.
Abandoned.
This other one is
down a couple roads
near me.
Along with this.
Sometime back I was told
that where the buildings stood
that housed
the coal mining of this area,
you can still see. There are
concrete slabs still there.
I drove around till I found them
but unbeknown to me,
I was a tad to far up and
only saw the driveways.
BUT, move a little closer in
and you can see the smoke stack.
DUH, was scratching my head
over this one and wondering
how I missed it the first go
around.
That concludes the first day of
drive around pics.
Day two. Totally mistake.
You see, I somehow read my
phone as my dr appt being on
FRIDAY. I got up, got
ready and headed out.
Looked at my phone to be
sure that I had the correct
time, when I realized it
was the day before.
YIKES!!
But because I was leaving
out for the "said" appt. early
I caught the sun coming up
and the rays shining through.
I love those shots.
Down the main hwy
I travel to the house there is
a side road, abandoned home I
had not went by yet.
I took off to see what
was all down there.
A worn out, falling
apart mailbox.
This is the house right next
to that mailbox.
Again, I have to wonder. I would love
to go in some of these, I would
love to sit and hear what
the walls have to say.
Over with the abandoned for
a bit and moving on to Dickson
TN square. I walked this square, which
is really not a square, it consist of
stores on each side of the road.
Square!??? lol.
This piece caught my attention.
Why, I love rust!!!!!
Check the rust out on this,
shining and sparkles.
But seriously, it caught my
attention cause my granny had
a metal glider on her front
porch. My cousin, Kathy that
was just here, and I sat on
that glider for hours, talking
and playing a game we
made up.
Would totally LOVE to have
one of these but I can't justify paying
275 for one.
Just outside a cool looking
coffee shop.
What once upon a time
was where folks went to see
a movie.
Not seeing it here, I figure that
all the windows must have
been sealed up at some point.
Noah and Jesse Bellamy.
I looked them up, they so
happen to be sons of a
David Milton Bellamy
of the Bellamy Brothers.
I was sitting on a bench
under some shade trees, soaking
up the amazing breeze when I
looked over to see a purple
door. Course I love that.
As I was walking past
the door I noticed what
was above, in a window.
I wonder if this is
suppose to be
ED.
LOL....
I love when I find hints
of humor out and about.
