Old Houses, Birds, and Ice Cream

I have blogged about
my great granny before.
I was lucky enough to know my
great granny, mother to my moms
dad. She lived with her two
old maid sisters, and one of
her son's. I loved her old home.
When we visited my grandma in
Ga. we would also make a trip
over to the town my mom was
born in and visit great granny.
Couple of times, my cousin and
I would spend a few days with
great granny.

A week or so ago, out of the blue
my cousin sent me a message
wanting to know if I remembered
great granny's address.
HAHA...NOPE!
But, I was able to go on Google
Earth and since I knew of
a landmark, I was able
to trace back to her home.

This was a pic I took, wow,
years ago. I was in mom's home
town with her, visiting gravesites,
my daughter was prob around five
years old, when we drove by the
house and I snapped this pic.

Cute home. I can walk through
it with my mind and tell you where
things were.

Anyway, after looking up the address
for my cousin I then went online and
grabbed this shot of the house now.

I know great granny did not pay
that for the house when she lived
there. But, the difference is the big
tree in the front is now gone and it
was old. So BIG when I was young and
it looks like it sort of took over the sidewalk. I
remember it being right at the edge of
the walkway when I was young.
The front steps
leading to the porch has been
redone. Looking at the specs
of the house, I realized that it
was built in 1870. That home,
as it stands is 155 yrs old.
It has an area that you can go in
under the house, that has a
sump pump and according to
my moms cousin, who lived here
after my great granny was gone,
the house is haunted.

This next pic was taken of the house
my mom lived as a young child.

We drove by it and I snapped this
pic the same year I took the one
of great granny's. I have never
been in this house. But mom said,
of course, growing up that the porch
was not screened in.
I had taken a few pics as
we drove by that day and I
managed to get the house
number so I looked it up.
This is it according to the
internet now.
WOW..

That is a big change.
Built in 1900.
Mom hated that it looked so
run down when I snapped those
pics but wished she could see it
now. When I saw it 40 yrs ago,
mom pointed out that it used
to have a big tree to the left of
it. One of those trees that
grows hedgeapples. She said they
would use a broom stick and play
baseball with the apples.
Kids will never understand!
lol

Check out this cute pic.
My birdfeeder clicked it.
I love the bird coming in
for a landing.

This babe looks just like that,
a baby looking right into
the camera.
SMILE, you are on candid camera!

So far, this has been up for several
months, and only finches are visiting
it. But hey, with that it is saving on
seeds!
This is a shot of ladies night out.

All female finches.

Now to leave you scratching your
head.

There are dogs on the package,
it says Dogsters, but yet the market
saw the need to post this sign.

OH MY GOSH!

Now, go have an ice cream of some
sort, but not one for dogs,
and enjoy,
Pam
