Homestead Cabin, Judging Hummingbird, Lily, Misty, and Laundry
A very cool piece of history Kentucky
and American History.
In 1786, this was the site of a homesteader’s
log cabin. On May 19, 1786, the homesteader
and his three sons left the cabin to clear
some additional land for planting. As
they worked, they were set upon by a
band of Shawnee warriors. One of the first
arrows fired by a Shawnee hit the homesteader
in the chest, killing him.
The oldest son, 16-year-old, ran back to the cabin
a fort about 1/2 mile to the north. The youngest
son, nine-year-old, ran to his father's side.
When the 16 year old returned with the musket,
young son the 9 year old was being dragged away
by a Shawnee warrior. The oldest took careful
aim and killed the Shawnee with a single shot.
The homesteader was buried on the south side
of the cabin. A woman with three sons and baby
daughter were at increased risk at the isolated
cabin, so the homesteader’s wife, abandoned the
cabin and moved with her children to Nelson
County, Kentucky, about 40 miles south, to be
with her family.
There, the boys grew to manhood and
eventually married. The youngest son
found love and married and they bought
a farm near Larue County, Kentucky.
In time, they had a son
So, had the oldest son not been an
excellent shot on that fateful day in 1786,
the young might not have survived to father
the 16th president of the United States.
On Tuesday, this guy started sitting
on the hook for the longest
period of time.
He would leave but only
be gone about two or
three mins, then back again.
Wed. morning, he is back
again. He always sits facing
the window, looking in
at me....is he judging me
for sitting on my rear?
It is hard to tell but
this is the male,
he is ruby throated.
Pretty little dude.
This was taken Wed. morning,
while Lily and I chilled in
bed. I woke with a headache
so coffee was done in bed,
with my girls.
Now if I could just teach
them how to make
breakfast for me and serve
me in bed, they would
actually earn their keep!!!
The night before Misty
crawled up for her
nightly loving.
Curled up and cuddling like
she did when she was
a tiny little baby.
She actually looks tiny
here in this pic.
She at least lets me
LOVE and KISS on
her!
haha
Yay, now its time to catch
up on laundry.
They are taller and not
as wide as the other,
looks like I will be
making something to go
between them.
Did not realize who much
I missed having a dryer.
I have someone coming tomorrow
or Friday evening for the
washer. Just got
to get someone that collects
metal to pick up the
dryer...either that, or I
take it apart and use the
tub for a fire pit!
NOW THERES
A THOUGHT!!!
A THOUGHT!!!
And look what I just
found on Pinterest.
Not very big but it will
save me 100 bucks plus.
haha....
I will see, first to see
I will see, first to see
if I can get it out of the
dryer itself.
Next on the list ~ I
hate to sound ugly or sound
like my mom but I hate
talking with foreigners
on the phone. I can't understand
a lot of what they say
and I have no clue
what I might agree too.
I say that cause, in the
process of backing
the Lowes truck in, they
took out a low hanging
powerline. Assuming it
is a landline cause it has
not affected anything in
my house I figured it
was ATT line. I called
ATT to report, on the line
for way too long and tired
of saying, "I'm sorry, repeat please"!
That truck
snapped that baby
right into, man mowing
next door almost got
smacked by it. Then
to top that off, both guys
on the truck were foreigners
and I could not understand
them either.
Put a load in the washer,
looked over to see Misty standing
on the glass lid and looking in.
Went and got the phone,
but by the time I got back
she had moved.
I guess she is overseeing
the washing today.
Like the breakfast
they need to learn
to cook, they need
to learn to do
laundry and not
oversee it being
done!
My thoughts for you today,
may your clothes be comfy,
your stains be few, and
your laundry basket be
empty,
Pam

Hooray for new washer and dryer. Too bad about the line they took out. I have to agree about getting foreigners on the phone. I can never understand them either. We used to have a customer where I worked who has a heavy accent. I always had a hard time understanding what she was asking for. Thankfully she wasn't insulted by my lack of understanding.
Love hummingbirds and I love your kitties.
Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the kitties. ♥

My laundry basket is empty and washing now drying nicely ... hopefully with any stains gone!
Have a good week.
All the best Jan
