Morning, King of the Yard, He/she/frog/Toad, Door Decor, Goat Kisses, and Sunflowers
Friday morning was a great
morning. Started it out on
the deck, coffee, the girls, the birds
signing, cool temps that remained all
day, the sound on my wagon water
pond and it was not raining.
shot down to the wagon.
You can tell that I still have
a ways to go with that rock,
but I will get there.
Here are the birds that sang
to me Friday morning,
or talked to other winged
critters in the woods.
have stayed within the safety of
those trees since I moved here.
But as soon as I moved
that bird feeder to the backyard,
here they came. Along with the
chipmuck and the ground hog, both
of which I have not seen in
a week....YAY.
But when I walked out on
the deck Friday morning with
my coffee, this is the site that
awaited me.
Little shit sitting up there
like the king of the backyard.
Of course, he was just sitting there
to let his food settle before he
went back down to try out some
more food.
Now, I am here to tell you, for
those that do not know...
or if I have not shared recently,
I am not a fan of these
little rodents.
So, I needed to come up with
a way to stop this guy and his
buds from chowing down on
my bird seed.
Internet suggested a slinky.
Oh, I can see it now. I have one
in the craft cave and started out
to get it but something else hit
me. I had picked up a couple of solo
cup looking containers that I have
been using for planters the other day.
I thought I would just open up
a section on the bottom, just
big enough to slide over the pole.
Secure in place and when the
squirrel runs up, he will not
be able to continue up.
I am pretty sure getting over
that SOLO CUP looking thing
will stop him in his tracks.
Years ago before I took a
total dislike to these rodents
I loved greasing down the shepard
hook with vaseline and sitting back
to watch the show.
However, this is a wooden pole and
that is not a long term fix.
I hope this is.
My feeling for squirrels started
back in 09, and I had not been blogging
long. But if you would care to read the
adventure of the squirrels that
lead to my dislike you can do that
here.
With the birds, squirrels,
chipmuck and ground hog lives
this guy.
I have been calling him Fred but
who knows...
Fred the frog or Tod the toad or Fiona the
frog or Tina the toad… has got to stop
jumping out at me and scaring me. Yeah, I know
there could actually be more than this one, but
until I see two together I am saying this he/she
frog/toad has greeted me in both sides of the yard,
in the back and the front. By the way, how
do you tell a girl from a boy frog/toad?
I saw this one, or another one,
frog/toad male/female in the front
yard on Wed. A couple days before on
the side of the yard with the air unit,
A couple of weeks ago he almost jumped
on me in the backyard and on Friday,
again, jumped at me and I am
pretty sure I jumped ten paces backwards.
So, if its just one, he is all over the yard.
On Thursday I realized how close
the 4th was and I needed something
new for my door. I gave the one I
used for yrs away. I sat down and started
one and on Friday morning,
I finished it up.
pharmacy to pick up my stay
awake meds. I needed to get the Friday
cause this place closes on the weekends.
On the way, I saw a sign for something I
had seen the night before on FB, so
I decided to stop.
It was a arts and crafts sale,
flea market, and enjoy the animals
at a local farm just down the way
from me.
If you don't know me that well, and
you really should, I went straight to the animals.
Rabbits were caged, ducks were in a caged area
also but that was okay, cause that was not
what had my attention.
GOATS
got my attention.
BABY
GOATS
that is.
I am telling you, these things
are the cutest.
This one I held was kissing all
over me and I was eating it up.
He was so sweet that I did not
want to put him down.
goats they grow up!
Now, I am no country girl,
never was around chickens,
horses, pigs or goats until
I was a adult. I know enough to
know, that those cute babies,
grow horns and they love to
butt at you. But at the time
that little one was kissing all over
me, I was melting and ready to take it
home. That would have brought up
more problems, pretty sure the girls would
not like it and also, where would it live?
Cause, you know it was coming in
the house with me....
would have had to stop at the
store for diapers first.
I finally put this baby down and moved
to the craft vendors and then on to the
flea market. From there I went to tha
straw garden....WHAT?
Yep, that is what I said. This farm
had been featured on a show about
a gardener, some popular show only
I can't remember the name right now.
Anyway, they have those metal sided
raised beds but no dirt, bails of straw,.
Best I could tell two bails on
top each other and a total of six per
bed, they plant the seeds in the straw and
the plants grow right out of that straw.
No pics...sorry.
From there I went over to the
SUNFLOWER garden.
LOTS...
heads with seeds still intact that
somehow ended up coming home
with me.
Once I made it home, I
replaced the handle on the pressure
washer that I had to order. Thank goodness
for youtube videos that show you how
to do all that.
Just wished when I did things like that,
things would come apart and
go back together as easy as it does
for those folks.
I worked and worked, got it
together, tried it out and it worked
great, turned the nozzle up for
more pressure and the handle started
leaking again.
CRAP.
CRAP.
Next time I pay more for one.
I did find out though, that all I
had to do besides replace the handle was
replace the washer rings.
I will try that this next go around.
Anyway, I did my porch and rails
a couple months ago, and I just did the
porch this time, it was nasty.
Next, the deck outback.
Need to get them done, let
them dry and seal them.
Always something.
Happy days,
Pam
