Busy Piney, Feature, Ordering, Beds, Coffee, Planes, Reply to Ann
Hi...
Hoping all are doing well.
The other day I ran some errands and
in the process I went over the Piney River
twice. Only twice, cause a lot of roads
here take you over the river
more than that.
This was taken off the bridge
on Pinewood Rd., that is about
10 mins from me.
This is again the Piney in another
area. The Piney was hopping on Saturday.
Before the rains of over a week came in,
I am pretty sure that going down
the Piney would have been really hard.
My Calif. son, laughs when I tell him
that we are in a drought.
Okay, true, ours is not near as
wicked as Calif. drought but we do
have them, just different.
Thinking later on in the summer season,
or maybe fall I will hit Robert and Sha up
for that trip down the Piney they promised me.
My water feature is coming along, that's
a lie, it is sitting there just like it is
in this pic.
Why? I have to order a pond pump.
Being the wagon is little, I thought
a fish tank pump would work. NO!!!
So, I went for a pond pump.
Problem being, that places like Wally World
and other places changed. Most things you need
are not stocked in the stores, it requires
ordering online.
Well, that became another problem.
Monday a week ago, we had a storm,
My internet and TV started acting up.
It would just go off here and there and
come back on. I kept hoping that it would
work itself out.
NO.
Seemed by Friday, it was going off
more during the day.
Saturday morning, I was online and
it went out. It stayed out over
24 hours.
Made a service call with ATT and of
course they could not get here till Tue.
afternoon. Monday night, this week, it
came back on. Here it is Tue. morning
at 10:30, still on. I canceled my appt.
cause they charge 150 bucks for a service
call if it's not an issue with their end.
If this happens again, I will hunt
another service. This is twice in a yr.
and this is also an issue I had with
living at moms. Finally,
after about five times
of contacting them and telling them
I would change service, it stopped.
Funny thing, it went crazy with a storm,
it corrected itself with a rain that
came through on Monday afternoon.
Questionable????
Anyway, back to pump.
I could have ordered over my
phone away from the house but
I don't usually order over my phone.
So, now I can order.
Now, here is my pitiful flowerbed.
There are some wild things growing around
it, it left them cause they bloom.
To say the least, growing in the soil
around here has been a challenge.
The wildflower bed, is in
question also.
I scanned and googled the growth of
the most plants growing there...
google said, ragweed.
WHAT?
I did not plant anything but a
bunch of wildflower seeds.
I am so confused.
However, I googled again yesterday,
it said tarragon.
Crap.....more confused now.
There is no telling what is growing
out there but unless someone played
a trick on me, there is no pot!
The mailbox area got out of
hand with the rain.
Grass started growing and growing
in that bed. I pulled a lot but wow,
with each day continuing to have rain,
I can't stay on top of it.
But to the right you will see
my yucca plant I dug up on the side
of the road and planted the summer
before last.
Hoping for a bloomer next yr.
That is Morning Glory growing up
the trellis. Since taking this pic, I have
added another trellis next to the first one.
I remember last yr. my glories got
WILD and was falling all over.
I am prepared now.
My Monday morning start to the
day. Deck life did not last long,
it is getting hotter faster and
earlier these days, which runs me in.
Just like last yr., I have projects in
the works and can't get out and do.
I have stepping stone laying all
over the yard, I have borders that
will be going in front of the
Craft Cave that is just laying there.
I have gutters laying in the yard to
put on the carport. The water
feature is sitting there. I did
get the fire pit made of bricks that
I got free but alas I can't burn
cause the wood can't dry out from
the rains long enough to allow
me to burn.
I am keeping the grass cut,
but weeding is a mess. That is
another story for next blog...
they call that a teaser, right?
One of the biggest changes I love when
I moved out here from where I was,
planes.
In Old Hickory, I had planes that
would go over but the route I was in,
not constant.
When I moved to mom's house, it was
hard to enjoy the deck. She lived closer
to the airport and during the morning
the route was RIGHT OVER HER HOUSE
(my house), then a few months later, that
would stop but the route of take off
would change to evening planes
going over.
Being closer to the airport, take off
and landing made the planes closer to
that roof, which made it a lot
louder.
Having the tv out there made for
not being able to enjoy
hearing it.
I told you all that to say,
NO PLANES.
We do have a small airport about
30 mins away, and from time to time,
I hear a plane. But a couple weeks ago,
I started hearing planes and helicopters
everyday. That told me that
Fort Campbell, Kentucky, maybe
45 mins away, were in the process of training.
That is the only time we have planes
and copters. And this is usually what
you see.
running to the copters.
This is what google tells me~
The “cables” you see are part of the airfield’s ground‑handling and safety systems. They are used for:
Aircraft towage: Moving large aircraft like C‑130s or Chinooks on the tarmac without engines.
Landing gear support: Securing aircraft during ground operations or maintenance.
Safety and control: Preventing movement during refueling, loading, or when aircraft are parked near active runways.
Emergency positioning: In disaster or combat scenarios, cables can help position aircraft for quick deployment or extraction.
A few yrs back when my friend Tim
was in from the Phillippines, him being
ex army and was in the national guards,
Him and I went to the base.
I had not been up there on the
base since my late teens. My dad being
Navy retired, mom would drive up for
groceries. It was a shock to see that it
was nothing like I remembered, and I did
not remember a lot. But that commissary
I knew was long gone and the new one was like
a massive size of maybe three Walmarts
put together.
You know, I need to start making a typed
journey of some of my memories for my kids.
With the passing of friends my age,
or even some older makes you stop and think
of all those things.
Reply to Ann's comment....
Yeah, I know right?
She appeared to be a nice, older woman (later
found out she was in her early 70's), so I
was betting on being safe! lol..
At least I was following her and not in
her car.
I am hoping that you all are
having a great start to your summer season,
Pam
