Out and Off, Changes, Funeral, Needing a Hand, Resting Spot, Fossil, Heading Home, Castle and Clouds
Hello folks.
I am starting Tuesdays blog on Monday night,
9:58 pm. I can barely keep my eyes open after
my trip to Nashville and back, a funeral, and
stopping to visit with James and Julie
at the venue.
I left the house around 10 am,
started my journey to the old
stomping grounds and shocked
each time with the changes that take
place each month.
Those old stomping grounds are
being stomped all over and growing
by leaps and bounds.
I know I fuss about this county
having NOTHING, but wow,
Hermitage, Nashville and surrounding
areas there have way too much.
I tend to shoot pics with my phone
along the routes I take...yeah, I know,
not wise but I really basically keep the
camera open and point, most times
not looking.
This is the low end of Percy Priest Damn.
Lake must be low since they are keeping this
end almost dry.
This used to be a dip in
the soil and it was actually
a golf shooting place.
Been built up so much, and
ready to pour concrete for a
Wawa gas station.
Wawa's are new to TN.
Once upon a time, and not that
long ago, this area, right where the
storage building is sitting, sat a big
red barn where horses used to be
housed. Ms. Pat sold this place about
five yrs ago and the guy that bought
it was going to put a boat storage
and repair place. But later learned that
he did not have near as much land
to build or store as he thought cause
he had to keep things so far out
away from the creek (big creek)
that is on the other side of those
trees. Understanding in flood
areas, is that you have to keep
structures so far back and away.
That is the reason that Ms. Pat could
not rebuilt her barn when the tornado hit it.
The only way it could have been done is
if the main structure was left, and
the barn be built right back onto
that structure. The walls had
to have been still standing.
Funny though, the guy that bought,
sold it due to that cause Metro would
not grandfather anything new in.
But it appears that somehow this
place got grandfathered in cause it is
way to close to that creek for a new building.
Oh well, guess its a matter of who you
know and how many palms get greased.
I worked for the government for over
30 yrs, I know how things work.
Anyway, I made it to the funeral home
to be there for my SIL and my niece.
Kim lost her mom the day before
her bday.
During the service, in the same
funeral home, same chapel that mom
was in, I had a moment.
My sweet nephew, Cobi who
was sitting with me, sensed
I needed a hand to hold.
Thank you Cobi for that, and
when he took my hand, he did
not let go till the service was over.
After the grave site service I walked
over to mom and dads resting spot.
As always, I talked to mom. I know
she is not there but I feel I have
her undivided attention here.
I know, sounds silly.
But, I had a sign that she was
there with me today.
While standing there talking to
her, looking down at her stone,
I saw my sign.
Right above mom's side of the stone
there was a big ole
fossilized horn coral.
I feel it was there for
me to know that she was
there with me.
Fossil is circled in blue.
This is the side that was up staring up at
me.
post, we need rain badly. Grass is usually
up around the marker but I am
pretty sure that keeping that area
cut and weeded with the bare
dirt showing is the reason I
saw the fossil, or maybe cause mom
wanted me to see it, knowing I have
been into studying and researching
fossils this past yr.
After the funeral, the fossil find
I headed to James and Julies for
a short visit before heading home.
James had a rabbit for me.
Pics to come later.
takes me around Nashville instead of
through, cause I was headed home
around quitting time.
On 840 I go past the exit
for the castle,
each yr in May the folks that own the castle
have a Renaissance Festival.
It is amazing.
I have been once and I vow to
go again but for 40 bucks I am not sure I
can hold out to enjoy it all.
Anyway, it was a beautiful
day for driving, although
hot.
Weather folks calling for
rain in the next day or so, we
need it badly.
How is the temp where you
are?
Stay cool,
Pam
