My Girls, Liz's Comment and my Reply, Farmer Pam, Creek Sitting

Well, hello there!

Hoping your week started off
great. Monday, I figured
I would be down and lazy all
day since I spent
Sat. and Sunday out,
running, and not at home.
But, I pushed to not do that.
I went to the pharmacy then to
Wally World to
get groceries and home to
weed the yard and then cut the
yard.
I managed to not laze
around but to actually get
something done.

Sunday after I got home the
and the girls got over
being pissed at me, they stayed
close the rest of the day.

On my post the other day about
rocks, horn coral, Liz left me this
comment...

If you ever find something you can't get
internet help for, you might try a local
university. I'm sure they have an archeology department.
Maybe? If you're enjoying the hunt, they enjoy the hunt.

Liz, I actually contacted the
Tennessee. Department of Environment and Conservation
with questions and they were very happy
to help. I thought of them cause when
I worked in printing we printed books
that department put out about
rocks and fossils. But I bet Vanderbilt
University would be willing to help
also. I have not really found
anything major or big since
things like horn coral and
crinoids seemed to be in over
abundance when warm sea water
covered Tennessee. Wolly Mammoth,
and big dinos was not a thing cause
apparently, there was way more
water than land.

It is really strange to think that
what I am finding, or should I say, what
covers my yard, and I hold in my hand
exited millions of years ago.
Pretty sure that this stuff
is not taught in schools these
days but what I have in my yard,
But for Liz and all of you here,
here is your lesson today~
The Rugosa (rugose corals
are an extinct class of solitary or colonial corals
that were abundant in Middle Ordovician to Late Permian seas,
which was 488 million of years ago!

My next question was, plant or
animal? And if you ask the internet
the question it will give you
the answer, and the answer is animal.
And I always thought of them
as a plant.

Anyway, I have learned so much
about the fossils in this area and I
have really enjoyed it.
But seriously, it is so hard when
I go outside, I bring in pockets of
rocks every time.

My brother buys his wife the
strangest of gifts but ...I love this one.
Course, getting up and down from
this, for me, would be
so difficult!
But I think I make a great
looking farmer.

I sent a video I saw on
fb to my sis in law,
someone sitting in a chair,
rocking back and forth in it,
while sitting in the middle
of a cheek, told her that if
I was up at the cabin, that is
what I would be doing.
She said, she has done it and
then sent me her pic.
I would be all for it,
sitting in the creek, a beer in
hand and a good book. I would not
want to leave.

OH and yes, I came home loaded
down. Two wooden chairs, two
plants for my porch that Ray
bought me, three pieces of
bark for painting on and some
metal O's and some spikes that
are used on iron fences.
A bunch, for welding. Can't wait.
Some pieces of silver forks,
spoons and knives for playing with
(jewelry, plant markers etc)...
Just gotta get out to the shed
and play...

Pam
