New Shed, Pig Tail, Dresser, Granddaddy, Sewing Machine and Great Granny
Morning, afternoon or evening
bloggers! It is 10 am here in middle
TN and I sit flipping back and forth on
FB before jumping over to say hi
to all of you. By the way, I am blogging
this post on Friday. I remember the weeks
I always looked for the Friday. Now I
shake my head and say to the girls, "is
it really Friday again"!!
I blogged to you folks on Wed about
going out and cutting my yard,
for the LAST time, but I did
not make it and here I sit, planning
on doing it again. But rain is coming
tomorrow so I really need to get it
done.
Wed. however, instead of cutting
I went to run an errand instead.
That errand was for my Christmas
gift to myself. WHAT?
Yep, it will be here shortly before
Christmas, well about a month
before but this was a much needed
gift.
I bought another shed.
HAHA....I have the shed out back that
is, by the way, stuffed. and if I moved
the stuff I brought in from cleaning
out the storage unit I had, I would
be spilling over. But for now,
the stuff from the unit I was renting
is on the deck. I had been moving things
off and on for the whole time I have
been living here from storage to the house,
but I had bigger things still there.
I decided I could use the 60 plus
bucks in a better way.
Back to my shed, this is going to
be JUST my crafting shed.
I ordered a 10x16, doors on the
side, two windows and four plugs
with a pigtail.
Yep, that last part
meant nothing to me until it was
explained. HAHA....four plugs for
plugging in and the pigtail. There will
be an electrical cord coming out the
back corner for an extension cord to plug
too.....however, I will have electric hooked
up to the house to avoid that cord.
At the time I do that, I will have
both sheds hooked up, only the first one
will also need to be wired inside.
I say all that to get to the fact that
I will need electric in both sheds. The older
one will be for my saws, tools and so forth and
the new one, will be crafts.......all crafts except
paints. In the new shed I plan on
getting a portable air/heat unit.
So excited.
I need a life, to get this excited over
a shed!!!
But with this new addition to my
life, I can get the craft stuff out
of the other shed. Set that one up
with my saws and tools, and have
nothing but crafts in the new one.
Once that is done, I will also start on
a couple of pieces I have that need
some love and that I just took out
of the storage unit I had.
I think this will be my first pieces
why would I waste my time on this?
Well, are you doing that?
Haha, cause this piece means something
to me, this piece belonged to my granddaddy.
It was his dresser.
As you can tell, it has only three
drawers, but my granddaddy was a simple
man, and he did not own a lot of
clothes so he did not need more than
this. My granddaddy was special to me.
He made you feel loved. When I visited
my grandparents I would sleep
on the couch, next to the kitchen and
when granddaddy came in from work, I
got to see him, spend a little one
on one. He used to sing, "hey good
looking, what you got cooking".
We lost him to lung cancer when
I was in the 9th grade, he was 60.
This was my granddaddy,
with two daughters, a son,
and my cousin Kathy.
losing granddaddy, so the dresser
remained in the house until she
was moved to a nursing home.
She was in a nursing home for
a few years but she left us
when I was 27. So, the dresser
has been in my moms basement
for 36 yrs and 2 in storage.
It's well past time for it to have some
special love.
This piece did not stand up well
against a couple of moves.
It was moved to my house,
then when I moved to mom's,
it was moved back there,
and then to storage and from
storage to the house, last week.
I hate it but it was not really
in great shape before.
Since I am sure I can't repair
it, I have plans to do something
else with it.
I do have the sewing machine, and
I am just going to sit it on
the dresser in the guest room.
I will remove the cabinet part and
use the base for the base of a
table.
This piece belonged to my
great grandma. It was in my
mom's basement for years also.
We lost her just two years
after losing granddaddy, she
was 91.
Had to be hard, she outlived
her husband, two sisters and
four sons. Losing her husband when
he was just 37.
These are pieces along with
some glassware that I hope my
kids and grands will love and care
for when I am gone.
Anyway, I have several other
pieces I hope to get around to
redoing also. Hoping with all this
stuff, I will have things to keep
me busy this winter.
Have you planned out your
time for the winter months?
Pam
