Halloween, Witch Paddling, and Braden
It sure is hard snapping pics
of Halloween stuff when you drive but
I was able to pull to the side of the
road and get these.
I want one of these BIG
skeleton's but I can not
justify it even to me to pay over
a 100 bucks for one.
I did not go all out as much as
I did last yr. but sometimes I just
have to plan what seems to be
more important to do at that time.
I did learn something on Saturday
that has sort of left me speechless.
A hop, skip and a jump away,
in another county around me,
has an event every year. Matter of
fact they had the event this past
summer, making it the 76th
year.....YES, 76 years of what you ask?
Turtle races.
It is put on by the local Lion's Club,
for the Boy Scouts of that area.
This is something I would love to
go and see next year.
The derby draws sponsors big and
small who bet on turtles who compete
in preliminary heats, three semifinal rounds and
a championship round. Sponsorship starts as low
as $10 and goes up to $250 for bronze level,
$500 for silver and $1,000 for gold.
How cool is that?
Speaking of which or would that
be witch...
come out to celebrate the incoming
of Oct. and witch season.
I tried to get folks that wanted to do this
on our local lake in Hermitage but
no one was interested. But wow,
I put this on our fb page and so many
people would love to do this.
After Halloween I am going to get
with the Chamber of Commence
and the folks that own the beach
part of Piney River and see if we
can make this an annual thing.
I am going to suggest a 20 buck
entry fee that goes to the local
women's shelter.
I think this would be so cool.
We will see where it goes.
Witch sailing!
I am also surprised that this area
does not do a thing where
they do the polar ice plunge.
Down at Piney River would
also be a great place for that
also. Maybe turn it to a fund
raiser also.
Goose bumps.
Who knows, I might be able
to bring something to this area...
there is so much resistance though.
The powers that be don't want change
in this county.
This story is about Braden again,
Amber and I got B a BB goal for his bday.
He got one for Christmas last year but
a couple months ago it broke.
Pretty sure I told you the story about
Caleb putting together the new one
and every time the ball hit the back
board, it would turn. That told me enough to
know that it was not put together right.
Luck would have it, I picked up all
the leftover screws and bolts and
took them home.
Well, the screws and bolts were
what would keep the board from moving.
He had attached the goal (with the net) on
with shorter screws but when I looked
at it, I could see that he needed the longer
screws, through the goal, the
backboard and then holes in the pole.
So, I took all that apart and fixed it.
When I was out shopping before
B's bday, I found a good buy on
balls and I knew his was almost
white from being left outside. So the
deal was, put the ball on the deck when
you are finished playing.
I went over the other day and the
ball wqs in the backyard. I put it in my car.
Sometimes you just have to mess with them to
show them you mean business.
. Later that day I asked
them why he was playing with the old one and he
said, "someone must have stolen it". I asked if he
put it on the deck and he said, yes he did, he knows he did.
Next time it will come up missing for longer.
Mess with Nana and it will come and
stay at my house.
NOW THERE,
Pam
