Fish, Shark, Caves, WICKED, Cookies, Good Looking, Outfit and NUT
is by counting the number of rings formed on a
chunk of calcium living in its inner ear.
(I have often wondered how they
claimed to know the age of
some of these sharks, whales and
etc)
This lake trout, named Mary Catherine, had 62 rings.
It's the oldest lake trout ever found in the Great Lakes.
Wow, just a few years younger than
me!
That fish is OLD!!
New species of OLD shark fossils
have been found lately in
one of the longest caves in
Ky., Mammoth Cave.
These sharks are believed to have
lived millions of years ago.
I find this sort of stuff
so interesting. To think that
things like this can be found
millions of years later.
Just like the Crinoids and
other fossils I located that came
in the soil from the river bottom
when I had my dirt dumped.
It's amazing.
Have you ever been to
Mammoth Cave? I would like to go
back because both my
kids were young when we
went. Cory was not even
a year old. I think it would be
neat to go back and enjoy without
children along. You can read
a little about the new species
here.
Also, if you would like to read
about things to do in, around, and
out of the Mammoth Cave system
here you go~
Can you imagine
450 miles of one cave
system?
WOW!
This morning a memory popped up
on my FB page of a painting
I did 11 yrs ago for my
niece Holly. Holly like her
aunt, loves the Wizard of Oz,
but her love went deeper to
the play version of
Wicked.
So cool to have painting pop up
that I have forgotten about, ones
I painted for others.
You ever have those moments
when you see, do, read about
or even just think about something
that reminds you of someone?
Hopefully those moments are
of someone dear to you, someone
that you might see daily, or
not at all but they remain a big
part of your life?
That happened to me yesterday
when I made peanut butter
cookies. I thought of my bud Phil.
He loves these things, but
actually, they are my least
favorite cookie.
Why did I make them, I had a
small jar of peanut butter
that I had sitting a tad to close to
the stove, and I sort of melted
the side. It did not like melt
into the contents, but it made
it a tad hard to screw the lid on
all the way. So, I decided to make
cookies, I know the grands will
eat them! Course I had to share
with Phil on FB that I made these
with him in mind.
Last week, like I stated in
another post, I went to Vanderbilt to
do a swab for genetic testing.
On my way home I stopped
at Loveless Cafe for lunch.
While waiting on a table, this
caught my eye. My granddaddy
used to sing this song to me.
I think I need to locate a cabinet
door and paint this on it.
My granddaddy live in Georgia
so, I only saw him once or
twice a year. He worked at a local
drive in, running the reels and
cleaning the parking lot after.
He would come home late, warm
up his dinner and I was usually
on the couch, just inside the
door from the kitchen, this is
when he generally sang this
song to me. I was just in 7th
grade when I lost him to
cancer. I loved this man so much.
As I mentioned, I had my appt
for swabbing at Vandy, I want
to show you my new outfit.
I grabbed this at Wally World
online a couple weeks ago.
Normally I don't do this wide
of leg thing that is happening
here, okay, not never.
haha
But I loved the way this looked
on the model online, and although
I think it makes me look a
few pounds heavier, I love it.
It is light weight, loose, flowing
and airy and this is basically most of
what someone with Fibro loves
to wear. Nothing binding, tight,
or smoothing. Course, the pic
does me less advantage with it
looking up at me!
Make up done, hair pulled
back. Make up was approved
by Lily, since she watched me
applying it. I tried to get a video
of that but somehow, I thought
I had the record button pushed,
but of course, did not.
DUH, you would think I never
operated a phone camera before.
I topped off the outfit with my
Jesus sandals (I am sure you know
Jesus sandals (I am sure you know
what those are) and my hat.
Course, I will have you know,
when I am dolled up to go
places, which is hardly ever these
days, I go all the way.
I make sure I have my earrings in,
bracelets, a necklace and my
rings. Funny thing is, I can go forever
without my rings but if I am dolled
up and I forget them, it drives me
NUTS.
I felt like I was owning this look!
Felt also so good when I stepped
on the trolley to go from parking
to the office and the woman
driving comment on my look.
She looked at me and said,
I looked so nice with my
hat, and my outfit but my spirit
also. You see, I got to the door
of the trolley and she started let
folks off, which is always a given
I step back, but I did not go back
far cause there were a lot of
folks getting off with walkers and
canes, and I stayed at the door
helping each one off.
I know, how often these days
do you see that? I don't recall being
taught that, but I just know its
the right thing to do.
Anyway, talk about feeling
great after that, and yes, I thanked
her and told her how great she
made my day. Guys, or Terry,
I think you are our only guy on here,
women need this from time to time,
esp. when feeling low about life and
themselves!
Sorry Terry, I just had to call you
out, but somehow I feel you know this
and you show your wife the love.
Guessing I need to close this post
now, we have been through
fish, sharks, caves, WICKED,
cookies, good looking, an
outfit and NUTS in
one post. Ha, I always add
so many things hoping I
at least hit upon one of interest
to each of you.
Let your smile light up your
world today,
Pam
