Family Heart, Finches, The Pole, Side Yard, Peppermint and Oh Boy

In my last post I mentioned
family history.
The Montgomery side of
my family history.
First off, let me say that I
did not of the work it takes to
come up with all this info.
It was sent to me by a cousin,
relative I located through my mom
before she passed. She is also on
the FB page for our family.

I have actually gone to Nashville
to the Library and Archives and
got some copies of stuff
needed and
sent to her.
Anyway, she keeps up
with all the
info with the family and she
has us traced back to my
3rd great grandfather.

Of course, I do not have a pic
of my 3rd great grandfather
but I do have
a pic of my grandfather
and grandma.
Elgin and Betty.
This is a pic of my dad with my
younger brother and I.
I see my dad in his dad.

My mom had blonde hair early in
her life and so did both my
brothers, however, dads was just
about black as was mine, at
one time.

My dad had brown eyes but the
three of us brats had
moms coloring
in the eyes, hazel. I did
have the same
coloring skin as my
dad, olive like
color is what I think they call it.

Anyway, reason for
my thoughts
of the Montgomery
history is for
health reason. But,
unfortunately, tracking
what I wish to know would be
close to impossible.

You see my daughter Amber,
has been having
palpations and some
skip like events.
I explained to her that
perimenopause
and hormone issues could
cause that
sort of thing. He had
mentioned it to
her doc once before and
when it started
to pick up, they put a
heart monitor on her
for 3 days. She wrote
each event she felt.
When all this was read,
it appeared to
be just one of those
things, hormones prob.
But the doc wanted
to put her on
a beta blocker. This did
not feel the right
move to me, cause the
event that did show up on
the monitor that the doc
questioned was one
Amber did not write
down cause she did not
feel it. I was a bit more
concerned after that
for questionable reasons,
you see heart disease runs in
my family.

My grandfather, Elgin,
had cirrhosis of the liver,
he was a drinker, but he also had
heart issues. When I
say heart issues,
back then there were
not specific
names for something like that.
This passed to my dad,
and all the
other five siblings, then named,
cardiomyopathy. At that point,
there was basically just
one cardiomyopathy, not a group
of different types. Cardiomyopathy is
basically, a term used for the heart.

Unfortunately, my older brother has
cardiomyopathy, aFib and
asthma.

But it did not stop there.
Chase, Ray's son has
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy,
thickening of the heart wall.

Chase's oldest son Cole,
who is not 13, has WPW,
Wolfe Parkinson White.
I was told when Cole
went through
a producer for this that it
was not connected to the
cardiomyopathy that runs in
the family.

Cole is the youngest in the pic.
I don't have a newer one of him.

WPW is where there is an extra pathway
in the heart that fires
causing palpations.
They went in and
cauterizing that pathway.
Cole had that done
and is doing well.
But when Amber read
that palpations was
a sign of WPW, she got concerned.

I called Chase, not my
brother cause you
always don't get all the
info from him.
I knew Chase was the
one I needed to talk
with. I just wanted to
check that I was
correct in remembering
that WPW is not
connected to the cardio
end of our family.

This is when I found out
that once they found
out Cole had WPW, the
docs at Vandy wanted
to check Chase, it turns
 out not only does
he have cardiomyopathy
he has WPW also.
Docs wanted to test Paige,
Chases sister.

With that info, Chase
 and I decided
Amber needed to see
a doc at vandy.
She made the appt. and
so happens, we
ended up with Ray,
Chase and Coles
doc. They are going to do an echocardiogram
but don't think there is
anything to worry about.
But now, I have to have
a genetic test for the
cardiomyopathy gene
and the WPW gene.
If I have, chances are
both my kids have.
But, I can have the gene
and not have the
disease. With all that said,
 I get tested
Aug. 14.

Now back to the family history,
I thought it would be interesting
to know if any other lines in my
family tree have this issue. But like
I said, impossible to find out.

Let me also throw out there, before I
end this heart felt post,
my dads sister passed this to
her two daughters who passed it
to their two daughters.

Now, moving on...
Still, birds do not like this feeder.
Only visitors I get to it are
the finches.

I love when they stop and stare
into the camera. I was going to hang
on a pole that I concreted into a large planter
BUT, image how hard that is to
do by yourself!
Got that picture in your head yet?
I had the planter in a level spot next
to the porch, put the pole in and
tied it to the porch rails to keep
it from falling over once I
put the concrete in and added the
water, fast sitting concrete.
Well, I did not have it straight.

With some wiggling and jigging
I got it out of the pot,
then after letting it lay there
a few days I was able
to break it up.

Gotta try again when I have help.

Just a shot of the side yard
where I had the wall put in.
This area was supposed to be a flowerbed,
but the heat moved in and keeping
it clear of grass, I decided to let it
grow up and treat it like part of
the yard.

This reminds me of
peppermint.

Just got the word on Wed.
number 6 great grandchild is a boy.
Number 5 is a boy also and
number 4 was a boy.

Must be the year of the boy.
Of course, Brayden (upcoming
dad) is one of four boys,
so, I think boys are in the genes!
With only two girls, the
boys win!
haha...

Who was the last baby in
born in your family?
When was that?
This will be three in a yr
and one month for this family.
