Class Room Time for Milkweed and Morach, Diane and the Scareho, Me~Hot, and The Pathway

Today's post is starting out
with a learning lesson, since our
local blogging teacher is on summer
vacation.
Yes Liz, I mean you!
By the way, Liz thank you
for bringing this subject to my
attention so I could blog about it.
Liz mentioned Monarch butterflies
in her post the other day and
that sparked something I heard
then read about, so today,
CLASS
we will learn a little about
 the Monarch
butterfly, then about the
Milkweed plant.
What I heard then I read about
was that a Monarch butterfly will
only lay her eggs on a milkweed
plant.
Interesting, and as this plant
slowly disappears from our
earth, so will the butterflies.
Now, being the silly teacher I am,
I can't tell you what becomes of
these eggs if there is no
plant to lay them on, but
that is just not part of the lesson plan
today.
"Ann, stop drawing and pay attention".

Moving on, there are 37 different types
of milkweed plant. When I was
younger I thought, cause WEED was
at the end of that name, it had
to be an ugly plant.
It is not.
The pic above is normally what
we see here in TN.
Maybe we have orange for
The Universary of TN.

However, personally, I
love the purple.
Also known as the
purple milkweed.
Clever!

This one below is known
Poke milkweed.

And look here Liz,
a California
milkweed!
"Terry, put the cat memes away."

I am not going to sit and
copy each pic to post here today,
but if you are interested,
here is where you can see them.

I have to say, I think
these are the most beautiful
butterflies.
Esp. these blue ones.

So, if you garden, go ahead
and plant some milkweed.
I have two packs to plant this
fall. Here in TN the Dept. of
Transportation will send you out
some free. If they do that again
this yr. I am going to get as many
as I can and toss them out in
the weeds across the street
from me, maybe up and down
my road.
I have two growing right in
the tree line on the side of the house.
They are stretching out trying to grab
the sun. I was going to move
them but they sit right in the
patch of poison ivy and I
just was not going to mess with
that crap.

"Jeanie, did I not tell you that
you and your friends could not
have wine tasting events here?"

Plant lover's plant
some milkweed and keep
the Morach's going.
"Now Jeanie, pour me a glass
before you put that away"!

Class dismissed!

Just a reminder of what my
Whimsical Woman
looks like.

Now I will share her name with
you. This is Diane, named after
Diane Keaton cause she wears
hats, long sleeves and something
up around her neck.

At least my Whimsical Woman
is not sitting out looking
like she is offering
herself. Found this
on FB.

When I reposted it a friend
of mine said it looked
like a Scareho.
Oh, my goodness....

Anyway, I picked up flowers on
Thursday for my woman. Basket I think
is done, working on the hat
now.

Me on Tuesday,

it was
nicer then days before,
and not as hot but
not as hot, did not mean it
was not hot, just means, I
think you know what I mean!
Hope you are following all
of that!!
I went out to weed eat.
If I have never shared this
with you before, let
me share it now...
I HATE TO WEED EAT!
I HATE WEED EATERS!
I HATE THE STRING ON
WEED EATERS!
I did manage to get the
front done and one side done.
I will work on
the back and the other
side tomorrow.
Starting next week, when
weed eating is needed again,
my grandson, DJ has been
hired to do it...
THE REST OF THE SUMMER!
He is 16, give him some
spending money.

I hope that you had a
happy 4th.
Braden, Amber and I
went to the next city over
in the other county for
fireworks. They elected to do
them Thursday night leaving
families to celebrate on
all day Friday.

Pics to follow, when I load
them to the computer and
take a look see at what I have.

I cut the yard
on Thursday (yesterday), and
worked on a project I somewhat
had planned out for months. I still
have work to do, but taking things slow,
makes things come together SLOW.

Here is a pic of what I got
done on Thursday.

The red outer bricks have been laid
for months, but I was struggling with
how I planned on doing it.
I wanted it to be a mismatch of
stuff. I was even going to make
step stones actually, I did. I know better with the
step stones, concrete is what you
need, not cement and I had the
wrong thing. My stones fell apart.
HAHA....
No biggie not the first time I
have screwed up a project and totally
sure it will not be the last.

Anyway, I really need to go out
and take pics of my problem
area, my fix so far, my fix to come
and then maybe before long,
the finished fix. The walkway
started out as part of the fix.
I need more pebbles and
the glue to hold them and
couple more cooler days,
today, is not it.

Pam
