Centipede, Chase, Hide and Seek, Praying Matis, Piney River Resort and Church

 Centipede
got in the house on Monday
evening. This is not the
first one I have found in the
house. Usually, I will see one
of the girls sniffing around
one of the doors and later I
find one of these.
I think they slitter in under
the door.

When I went to look them
up, cause I look everything up,
I found that a centirpede and millipede
were not the same.
I have heard both names growing
up and just assumed.

Centipedes are typically orange,
yellow, tan or black.
However, a centipede can be
multicolor
Millipedes can be bright colors
of orange, yellow and red but
it is more common to see black or gray.
I am leaning to a millipede on
this one. But, there again, I
don't know.

I did learn this about the
two..

CENTIPEDES ARE VENOUMOUS
Well, YAY.

Whatever I learned I do know
this, this got in, one of the
girls got it (thinking Lily),
and played with it till it stopped
running away.
When I found it in the
laundry room floor,
it was twitching around some.
I took it outside
to live or die.

Speaking of Lily, this
nice Tuesday morning, she
is being needy. She does this
every so often. I have tried to type
this post and this little bit
has taken an hour!!
She demanded to be brushed.
She called to play chase,
She summoned me to play
hide and seek, and yes, I
did them all.
Actually, our chase game
turned into a game of hide
and seek when she thought
jumping in this box I would not
see her.

I flipped the lid over and
started calling her, saying
where is Lily, she never moved.
I flipped the lid back and
said, there she is and she
laid there.
I laid in the floor a
good ten mins while Princess
Lily got her head scratched.
Oh, and the purrs were great.
I stopped when she gave
me that little nip that said,
all done!

I HAVE THE MOST
SPOILED FUR KIDS!!

I forgot all about this
little critter I found climbing on
my trash cans when I took
trash out.

He is so tiny.
Such a cool looking
critter the
praying mantis is.
I hope he stays away from
my hummingbird feeders cause
I read those birds love to
eat these insects.

On Monday, I felt the need to
get out. I grabbed the camera
and just went.
It was overcast which is
really a great time to shoot but
before I had time to travel
anyplace for shoot, it started with
several rains coming in.

BUT,
before the rain moved in,
I found the coolest place.
Ventured down a road I had
not went on, and just took out
following the black top.
I came upon
Piney River Resort.
I have heard of it.
I have seen signs off Hwy 48
for it but never ventured off
to see it.
Sorry it took so long to
find this beauty.

At a resort you have the visitors but
there are the ones that live there
all year and some that come
6 months out of the yr.
To get close enough to see
if this area went all the
way through I would have had
to step onto a regular's patio and
I opted not to that.

So, this is the closest shot
I could get.
Gotta wonder if those caves
stop there, shortly inside or
go all the way through.

Mother Nature with her
creative side can do some
amazing things.

Also located this church.

Est. in 1810.

There again, I wonder if the original
church has been replaced at one
point with this one. Thinking so.

Advice for the day,
take a drive and soak
in the sites,
Pam

Yikes - not a fan of centipedes or millipedes!
Piney River is beautiful! You got some great pictures. I like seeing old churches too.
Love those water views, the crawly critters and sweet Lily Bit too!

It's an honor to spoil pets. Isn't it? :) What lovely finds, my dear.

If I'm remembering correctly, there are parts of the world where the mantids eat hummingbirds! Also, I think what you found is a millipede with those short legs.

On another note, I drove my husband to and from the local farmer's market this morning. He encouraged my meandering route home because there's a local place called Grace Café I've been meaning to check out. Due to a road closure, the wise proprietors put signs up directing potential patrons through a huge recreational park.

It's funny how we've lived here since 1994 and I never discovered how large that park is until recently. The space houses the high school football stadium, public pool, and more.

Your final words are taken to heart from me. I guess my father gifted me the penchant to wander. Be well, my dear.

We used to get centipedes in the house all the time when I was a kid. I hated those things.
Lily has you trained well.
Love the pictures from your spur of the moment outing. Looks like a really pretty place

I am familiar with both centipedes and millipedes. Usually, the latter crawls in when it rains. Centipedes are poisonous, if I am not wrong. Both are repulsive to me.
Praying mantis is such a lovely insect :-)
