We have a bear..

Yes, you heard me correctly,

a bear in the subs of 

Gallatin TN.

Keep in mind, Gallatin 

Tn is no where, not even

in a thought, close to the 

mts of TN., where bears can 

be seen.

Bear Sightings in Gallatin!

We’ve received reports of bear sightings in the Gallatin area. While this can be surprising, it's not uncommon—especially as bears roam in search of food.

Do not approach or feed the bear.

Secure your trash and keep pet food indoors.

Remove bird feeders and other attractants if possible.

Let’s all do our part to keep the community—and the bear—safe. If you see the bear, give it space.

No, I am not near here.

When I lived in Old Hickory,

I was about 30 mins from there, so

I am just a tad further away now.

By the way, before I venture off

to talk about more TN news,

does, without looking it up,

anyone know where the name

Old Hickory came from?

On the interstate in route 

was a load of 

BEES.

Due to this mishap

thousands of bees had to 

be let loose. 

On Saturday this is 

what was reported by

a local news man on 

channel five in Nashville.

NO, YOU ARE NOT SEEING THINGS.
That is a zebra.
No, it is not Africa.
This zebra was roaming along the shoulder of Interstate 24 in Rutherford County, TN.
The zebra is likely someone’s escaped pet.
Yes, you can legally own a zebra in Tennessee.
Anyway, the sheriff says the zebra was creating a hazard on I-24 near Joe B. Jackson Parkway.
Deputies actually had to close the interstate because the zebra was running through traffic on both sides of the highway.
Westbound lanes are opened first and now eastbound
lanes just re-opened too — this after the zebra disappeared into the woods.
POOR SCARED ANIMAL STILL REMAINS AT LARGE.

What the HECK?

No need to visit the Smoky 

Mts. to see bear and no need

to go to Africa to see a Zebra.

As for the bees, I have actually

seen more in the area I live then

I have seen in years. 

Okay folks, stop laughing at

us Tennessean's and let's move along.

If I have not shared with you,

my spread of dirt finally got 

seeded and straw thrown over

it. I see new grass coming up.

But since we have been a couple

of days without rain, I thought 

I would pull up

a chair and water my

straw,  grass.

I did just that! 

Before I pulled up the chair,

I was standing and acting like

a sprinkler trying to water it all

down. As I was doing that I looked

down at the ground, between my 

feet and spotted this.

Indian Money Crinoid stem

fossil. Says a lot for my eyes for

sure. Look how tiny it is, and it

is PERFECT.

Got to wonder, how this survived

for millions of years here in the 

muddy waters of the Duck River,

long after the sea covering Tn 

was gone.

AMAZING.

If you remember I went down

the rabbit hole

 looking and digging

for fossils in the load of dirt I 

had dumped. The funny part of 

the whole thing is, this is the same

dirt, from the bottom of the 

same river that was dumped in 

the yard as the house was finished.

I just never looked down to realize

my yard was one big fossil.

But, the reason for the rabbit

hole was, I looked down.

HAHA...I actually looked

down at the edge of what Ben

spread the dirt and my eye caught

the tiniest little fossil of a stem.

TINY, I say, but I saw it, and I went

to town!

haha

I can get totally distracted by 

things like that. 

By the way, this is no joke,

my yard, having had that dirt

applied to it when the house was built

is one big mass of fossils.

It amazes me that years and years

from now, a child might be digging

in the yard and find these funny looking

pieces of rock and their mom might just

tell them, "oh honey, that is 

Indian Money"!!

Well, tomorrow is the first 

of June and I am sure that 

I will not be able to enjoy

the extended spring temps

that have lasted so long this 

year. Summer is knocking

at the door and that means 

so is the change of temps.

I don't like summer.

Boys are out of school, I 

have nothing I need to do,

so I am considering getting

an above ground pool

installed for me and the boys so

they are not locked up all 

summer and playing

video games.

With that said,

bust out the suntan lotion!
