Ruby Slippers, Clear Skies, Looking like a Drowned Rat, and My Stream,

This is what it has felt like
for the past two days.
But, I don't have ruby slippers.
Seriously, I am over these
storms, as I am sure a lot
of other folks are.
We are not done yet
either, not supposed to
let up till Sunday.
I know my girls are
tired of being put
in their carriers and
moving to a safe spot.

The pic below was taken
on Tuesday night, the
night before the storms
moved in. My thoughts,
the storms will move out
and we will have clear
skies again.

There was a little time
on Thursday morning that
it was not raining.
I went out to work on
the weather worn stream
that appears at the tree line
when it rains.
I found that my reroute
a couple weeks ago did not
take with the amount of
rain we have had. So, I went
out to reroute the reroute.
I widened the sides of the
stream and dug it deeper, banked
the mud from what I dug out, on the
sides to prevent the stream from
working its way into the yard.
I worked for about 30 mins or more,
then just as I had had enough, it
started to rain and I came in.
Ten mins later the bottom fell
out and it was pouring, I went
to deck to check things
out, the reroute on
the reroute did not work.
Above pic is the garage
that the man that used to live
there had built, I think that is
adding to my issue for sure.
And the pic below is
nothing like the steam looked
like while it was pouring.
It was a mess.

I also cleaned dead leaves
away from Carrie's (neighbor)
fence so that water could
flow better. Leaves were all
over the fence, blocking
things up.

Afraid that at some point,
after the other work is done
to the front yard, I will need
to hire this dug out and some
type of banking done to avoid
this sort of mess. Ben, the guy
working on the front and my
retaining wall said he could
do that and he can also clean
up the forest floor of the
downed trees.
Ben comes HIGHLY
recommended by the builder
of my home. He does
the work for him once the
houses are finished.

Being I grew up and lived
most my life in the same
area, one big issue of moving
to BFE, was not knowing who
to go to for what. It's nice
to have Michael (builder)
as a go to for things like this.

I hope you all that
are going through what
we are here in TN., are
all fine and hanging in
there.

Take care,
stay safe,
Pam

That flooding does look like a real mess when it rains hard. I've had issues in my back yard for years. It's not as bad as it used to be but if it rains bad enough I get water coming in my basement door.

Sorry your attempt to reroute the water isn't working. I wonder if there's another way to solve the issue. Good luck. Stay safe.

I really hope your storms are done for good! Love the ruby slipper photo -- cute idea. And you have been working like a dog. Well done, now rest!
I hope the storms leave you alone, I worry about you when I hear of bad storms up your way.

It's always something with home ownership, isn't it? I (almost) miss renting an apartment, though it wasn't all roses and sunshine. lol Our go-to handyman basically retired and we miss him. At least the electrician he recommended might be able to suggest some folks. Be well, my dear, and stay safe. It's storming again here as I type.
