Quilted Address Number Rock, and The Girls

Morning!

Here it comes!!

6:32 am

Wow....its really covering and
coming down, fine, wet and a
lot of it!!

And as I typed the above,
I realized it was 7:03 am,
one hour of snow pics below
to see how it can cover
in no time.

Roads are covered.

NEVER.....do I recall
all 95 counties in TN.,
all of TN schools closed
for one snow.

Okay....
moving on.

When I was in the mountains
at my brothers cabin I spotted
an amazing rock from the deck
in the creek.
Told my SIL that I wanted to grab
one for her and one for me,
to paint our house numbers
on. So, I ventured in to the
creek and got the rocks I spied.

This is the one I picked out for
the cabin house number.

17.5 inches from point to point,

and the other side point to point
is 11 inches.

I did not want to just paint
the number on the rock and
with Lori being a quilter
I wanted to paint a quilt
pattern on hers.
I took a pic in town of
a quilt pattern on a building,
and decided to copy that
pattern to Lori's rock.

Then I painted the house
number over the top of
that.

Gotta pick up some sealer,
I ran out doing the great
grands chairs for Christmas,
and apply several coats
to Lori's rock.
Now, to decide what
I want to put on my rock.

I started this post earlier
today and did not finish, it
is not 1:40 am, and I can't sleep.
At 12:30 I was cleaning the
laundry room.
I give myself an hour and
if I have not gone to sleep I
get up. But as I laid there and
could not sleep my
mind kept racing from one
thought to the other.
The other was, for
a fleeting minute, what
I think I have decided for
my rock.
I might not add the house
number across it,
it might just read, "there's
no place like home"!
You see, if I do that, I can
always pick up another
great rock on my next trip
to the mts. The creek is full
and its forever changing.

I have blogged before that I
am a big fan of
The Wizard of Oz.
On the front door of
my home of 28 years,
I had that saying,
"there's no place like home".
That saying came to me
when I was unlocking my
door after a seven day
visit in Calif.
I loved my visit, but
we all know, that there
is not place like home.

When I moved to my childhood
home, I also painted it
on the front door.

Because I was going home
to live again.
I also did something I
said I would never do,
I got a tat with that on
my leg.

So, being that is a thing
I do, it was also one
of the first things I did
when moving to my
forever home last yr.

Who knows, I could change
my mind, but probably not!

Cooler temps bring the
girls hanging in the same
room with their mom.

I have to laugh at this
little gray ball, if I
am sitting near her, she
has to reach out and
touch me. She does it
all the time.
I LOVE IT.

The holidays are done and
over so my door decor
has been taken down.
I keep trying to remember
to go to my stash and pull
out something for the front door.
We are kinda between
holidays so I will probably
put my J back up.

Do you always keep something
on your front door?
Pam

When it snows like that it's always nice if you can just stay inside curled up under a warm blanket or sipping a cup of something hot.
The rock for your SIL looks great. Good idea for yours.
