Winter, Crocheting, Cakes, and Dawn

Well, fall finally ended
this past Friday
night and winter
moved in. With global
warming and
how our falls and winters
are here in
Tennessee, you never
know what
season you are in.
Anyway, WELCOME
to
I had a need for some odd
reason to pick up my needle
and yarn. I started an afghan.

If you remember a few
years back
I did this and by Feb. I had
three afghans made.

I ended up
with one extra and
then I worked
on one mom started
that I gave
to Amber.
I call them scrape
cause I make
them with yarn I have
laying around.
I will start with one color
and either
I tire of that color or
I run out,
I then move to another
color.
When I change color
it might not
start on the edge or
end of the row,
I might start it in the
middle, adds
the scrape aspect of
things. Great
way to use up yarn
from other projects.
Scarfs are another way
of using up

yarn. I my case, I really
don't do a lot
of projects with yarn so I end up sometimes
going and buying more just to
have different colors!
Then what happens, I
end up with more
yarn laying around. lol

When I made them a few
years back I made
one for Braden
and one for DJ in
the colors they
like. I add to buy yarn
for those.
I made two scrape
ones that time
and I had one I did not give
away. I am giving that to my
other grandson, Caleb.
These I make now, will prob
be gifts for the
adopted grands.

For Thursday I told
you I made
Amber her favorite cake.
I sent the rest home
with them.
Will is having a get
together at the
house with his
kids for Ambers
bday Saturday. I
offered to make
another cake for that.

I made a bundt cake this time.
I also like to play
around with my
baking. I poured half in the
pan and then put
cinnamon over
that, then the rest went in.
For the topping I
melted some
butter, poured in
some caramel
sauce and some
powered sugar,
mixing it up well.
When the cake cooled, I
poured it over the top.
Nothing like experimenting on
others at a get together!
haha

This popped up on my
FB page Sat.
I made this for Amber for
her bday a few years ago.

Sorry Amber, I did
not make your
two bday cakes this year, this
fancy. Besides, who gets two
cakes anyway???

Question~ how old were you
when you learned that the top
of the vanilla bottle is
exactly a teaspoon?
Me ~ the age I am now,
64 and I learned it in
the mountains
when I went up in Nov.
WOW.......
DUH!

Now to share something else I
have learned.
I have a black top stove, I
have to say, they are worse
that white in keeping them
clean! I read that alcohol and
baking soda would
clean them
nicely. I sprinkle the
baking soda on
the stove, pour on the rubbing
alcohol and make a
paste, rubbing
it around on the
stove. I let mine
sit for a few minutes.
I wipe it
off with paper towels,
 then I have to
clean it with glass cleaner.
Yes, it works good.
Since then, I have also
found that Dawn Power
wash works nicely.

DIY Dawn Power Wash~

  • For a 16-ounce Dawn Powerwash bottle, you’ll need approximately 2-3 tablespoons of Liquid Dawn dish soap.
  • 2 Tablespoons of Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Fill the rest of the bottle with warm water, leaving some space at the top to allow for shaking.
I put mine in a spray bottle,
it also works great like
the kind you buy and it don't
cost as much.
Give it a try.

Have a great day,
Pam
