Stay Awake Meds

For all that have followed me for a bit you do know by now that if crap is going to happen, it will happen to me....CORRECT? haha...

Beautiful last two days here in TN (Friday and Saturday),  however I have not been out to enjoy any of it till this evening. Why? Well, cause I slept both days away. Why? Well, cause I was sleepy!!!

Okay, going back to "if it can happen, it will happen to me".......
Two weeks ago I called my script in for my "STAY AWAKE" drugs to Kroger. Three days later I still did not get my text to let me know it was filled. I called of course only to find out that being this script was a year old, it had to be reapproved by the insurance company and the doc needed to make that happen. Kroger had contacted the doc's office and it was a waiting game after that.
Two weeks into it, and after getting a letter from the insurance company that it had been approved again I called Kroger and of course they had to look it up to tell me, yes they rec'd word to fill it. But not having gotten to Kroger, and being so tired I made it from be bed to the couch and back to the bed last night and pretty much the same today. I made myself move the rear (my REAR) to the store to get my drugs this evening, then over to Theresa's for a beer and a bratwurst over the flames. Two hours later I am home again and ready for bed!!!

Morning, first thing, I will take my drug.
Sunosi.
Now here is where the crap gets out of hand.
This drug is not a stimulate, but it works at keeping a person awake.
It is not an opioid but I have to have it filled monthly. I miss the days of having three months of meds filled for one price but not this drug. And apparently, which would have been nice to know ahead of time, it expires yearly. This is something that would have been helpful in me getting the drug filled before I was out. Seriously without this drug, I shut down, I can' function.
Why do I have this issue....apparently it is a lingering residue for people that sleep with a CPAP. Not everyone will deal with this but YAY, tag I was it....

If that is not one drug I have to fill monthly I have another also, it is a drug that falls within the opioid standards. I used to not be that way till a couple of years ago. It is a very and I mean very low dose of opioid. It is pain meds for the nerves. It fights the pain of  fibromyalgia.  Once upon a time I could have three months filled at one time for one price....BUT no cause there are idiots out there that found a way to use this low dose as a get high drug! To my understanding folks would break open the capsule and cook down the insides and shoot it up. Hence the reason I now have to justify using it and I have to jump through hoops to get it. I actually stopped taking it due to the side affects. At 900 mg a day I felt like bugs crawling over me all the time, I backed off and no matter how far I took it I still felt that way. I finally stopped taking it. Recently however my doc put me back on it and I started at 100 mg, up to 200 mg now but I will not go any higher. I will state this though, being put back on it has really helped me neck, shoulder and head pain from the whiplash. I am feeling lots better there since being back on it.

Anyway...I can't live without my stay awake meds!!!!!

Tomorrow which will be today when you read this....I will get something done...
I HOPE...
Pam

All those crazy rules are awful, typical, but awful.

I almost wish I needed a stay awake medicine, I struggle to get enough sleep and I hate taking sleeping tablets but sometimes it becomes a must. Now my husband takes Pregabaline for Peripheral Neuropathy, it used to be Gabapentin but since the change, he complains that the skin in his slippers feels like it is crawling. Any shoes are painful though so he cannot win.
Take care and stay safe, Diane
Thinking of you.

All the best Jan

I don't envy you, my dear. It seems you make egg salad out of chicken sh!t, though. And if you don't get the obscure reference, I highly recommend the 1989 romantic comedy "Cousins". Lloyd Bridges is fantastic as the aging father. :) I have to watch this 'chick flick' about once every year or so. Take care of yourself. ~hugs~ I wish you all the best.
