The Placement of the Litter Box

My downstairs bathroom is not
all that large so when I got Lily
I had to find a place to sit her
litter box....

and it went right there where the
black rug is laying, in front of the
porcelain throne. I usually had
a bathmat there with it curved
going up the baseboard to catch in
litter that might have went that way.
To keep litter from going under the white
cabinet, I curved that black rug piece up
which blocks the doors on
the cabinet.

Lily tends to jump right out of the box
and takes litter with her. Hence the
reason I thought I would place the rug
runner in there (in the above pic).

But there is another issue.....
dogs like eating cat
POOP.
So Dakota also drops litter all over
the place once he went
looking for dessert.

I went to PINTEREST to find a way
to stop Dakota and also get the litter
box out of the way.

Here is a couple of things I found.

But these sure are not looking good
for space. Might keep Dakota away but
like I said, space is an issue.

I also saw some pics
of putting them in cabinets.
Cutting a hole in the side of this
cabinet would have been perfect but
it is just not wide enough.

Then it hit me, how about under the sink
in that cabinet?
I had a bunch of stuff stored under there
but the only thing that I used most
of the time was the blow dryer. So I
cleared out the space and put
the litter box in there. For now
I am keeping the door open till I
decide if this will work okay, then I
will just remove the door.

I placed the box behind the closed
cabinet door to keep Dakota from
getting to it.
I showed Lily where it was and
she seems to be okay with the
whole idea.
It gets it out of site, out of the way,
out of Dakota's view and the floor
stays cleaner.  I have a couple of carpet
pieces in there and the box sits on that, when
Lily jumps out she gets most of the little
on the carpet pieces.

So far this is working really great.
The bathroom looks so much cleaner
and neater this
way.

Thank you for checking out Lily's
litter box placement,

I can remember the struggle of trying to keep a dog out of the litter box. I had a chocolate lab at the time and we lived in a mobile home so space was limited. I put the box behind a chair in the living room and the stupid dog actually moved the chair to get to the litter box...lol
Looks like you found a good solution. I'm betting if it was Gibbs he would probably just get in that cupboard to get to the kitty box treats

Oh, wow! That's fabulous. Right now I'm looking at litter that has been tracked all the way from the hall bathroom to the hard floored entryway. ~sigh~ Well done! I wish you ongoing success. Of course, Tilly (I think) recently pooped in my office, so it could be worse. Be well, my dear.

That was a very clever idea. You're brilliant. I'm sure Lily approves too.

Have a fabulous day. Scritches to Lily and Dakota. ♥

I never knew that about dogs and the litter boxes. I hope your problem has been solved; as I've said before you are amazing, Pam.

It's tough, finding space if you don't have a basement or empty spot. Good idea about the cabinet. Hope it works.

We used to have a cabinet with cutouts for our litter box, too. It works out great but is a bit difficult to clean it out sometimes. Good luck, Pam. xo Diana
Result!
