Quilts and Stones

Now isn't that the most BEAUTIFUL
quilt?
I love it.

My SIL is self taught and does
a great job every time.

These are some she made for
Christmas gifts for her
family.

This one below is a large piece
of material with the
pattern already printed on it,
and Lori has backed it, and
quilted it.

This one she made for her cousin
that has breast cancer.
The hearts on there are for
Shelia (cousin), Sherry ( Lori's
sister) and Lori.
How sweet!

I love Lori's work. I love that she taught
herself to do this!

Update on health issues.
Yesterday I went to the doc, an
apt that was changed from Tuesday
to Friday due to the snow.

I had to talk to her about the pain I have
been dealing with this cold winter.

I have had fibro for 12 yrs now and with each
passing year the pain gets more intense.
This winter being the coldest in yrs...the pain
has gotten unreal.
I wanted to talk to her (doc) about maybe
getting some pain meds, low dose
to help me get through the rough
nights when I need something.

Upon talking about this we decided that
she would up my Gabapentin from 600 mg
a day to 900 mg.
Gabapentin is a pain med for nerves and
since Fibro pain is caused from over
active nerves we are hoping the jump
in the meds will help.
I take it along with 60 mg of Cymbalta,
which I have been on since 2011.
I pride myself on dealing with it this long
without pain meds. But if the upping
of the meds don't work then I
will be sent to pain management.

One issue with the Cymbalta and the
Gabapentin is.....
fatigue.
I stay so tired, like I wish  to curl up
every waking day  on the couch
and sleep.
So....guessing that will get even
worse now.

I have never been a big coffee drinker,
not one of those that just
NEEDS
it....for the taste or
the rush...but I do need
it for a jump start to move me
from the fatigue, sleepy fog
when waking. It does help me
to start my day, to knock off the
fog. I have about 2.5 cups of the
fog remover.

then I have a cup of hot chocolate
every night.

Thanks to an issue I had the other night
I have been asked by my doc to cut
down on the caffeine
(like I drink that much).

I was waken at 2:30 am in PAIN...
kidney stone like pain.

And believe me I know what a kidney
stone pain event feels like.

(pic from internet)

I had an event like this about 5 months
ago also. Pain and stone like issues...
but never passed a stone. The doc
and discussed this at the time and I
gave in that maybe I passed it and
did not notice. With that let me say, everytime
I past one, I know!
So I gave in to that thought.

Back to the other night, pain the rest
of that day into the next night.
When I woke the next morning I had
no more pain but I had no control over
my bladder. This went on from early
morn till around noon. I just stopped
drinking anything for hours.

THEN I was okay. Like nothing
happened. My guess for some reason
I was having spasms of the bladder.
Why? Who knows. So it was3
suggested that I cut back on the
caffeine cause apparently that causes
this type of issue.I was also given
a med to help with that.

At the price of that med, since it is
a brand name, I will probably take it
this month and not again. I can't afford that.
Plus my question is....how will I know if
it helps or not since it only comes about
every so often. Course if this
meds don't work (DUH, again...how
will I know)..then I will be sent to a specialist.

Biggest issue....both the Gabapentin and
the new drug makes you sleepy....
and I have had to cut back on the
drink in the morn that will help
jump start me!

Gotta love getting old!

Thanks for stopping in,

drugs are just so very confusing and everything they repair they mess up something else. hot choc has caffine to, doesn't make any sense to me that this is the problem because why did it just start and has not been caused before. i think they just try things to get rid of us because they don't know the answer and don't want to say they don't know. i do not trust doctors and have a nice soap box sermon on that and will spare you the extra pain of it

She is amazing! I like her taste in quilt styles. They're so unlike anything else I've ever seen before.

I was telling my SO last night about some of your latest trials. And I complain about menstrual cramps a few days a month. ~shakes head~ It seems like medicines always compound other issues. I'm fortunate to have avoided needing long term meds outside those for allergies and asthma. I wish someone would find a cure. What a horrible condition. ~hugs~ I hope the weather warms enough to give you some ease.

I will have hot chocolate once in a while, but can't stand coffee.
Spent the past couple days in bed mostly, I hurt less if I am there. It also helps if I sleep.
Goodness, Pam, you are certainly dealing with a lot of issues. I sure hope your new dosage helps you without too much fatigue.
Your sister-in-law really makes gorgeous quilts. I love the one with the hearts! ♥

Love the quilts.
The fibro issues and other stuff sound very frustrating. The worst part about meds is some of the side effects

Beautiful quilt work! All the best managing this fibromalgia. Having a diagnosis is something too.

Pam xxx I felt your pain reading this post. My gosh. I'm personally against meds, but I WILL take them if things get too painful. How horrible, all those side effects...You're a brave and wonderful women. Btw, the quilts are gorgeous, I love the second photo! Coffee...well, for me it's tasty. I only have one a day now but I find my nerves get edgy lately...if I have too much hot chocolate, my heart races too. Dang it. Dark chocolate is fine though, it's the milk chocolate that gets me.

I take 900 mg gabapentin also, and found I have to take at night, rather than 3xday. For some reason, in these later years even 1 gives me restless leg.

I'm sorry for all the pain you're in.

My husband is on 1500 grams Gabapentin a day, he has peripheral neuropathy. Hope you find some answers to the pain. Take care Diane

Oh Pam, I'm so sorry you had kidney stone pain and also that your fibro gets worse in the winter. I don't like to see anyone suffer and feel for you, my friend.

These quilts are gorgeous. My sister sews quilts too, and I've always thought it was such a talent. These will make beautiful gifts.

I hope you're feeling better now, and sending comforting thoughts your way. : )

Oh Pam, I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well. That pain sounds just grim. I hope the meds help. I can see the fibro being worse in the winter and it has been a colder winter than usual for you down there. Hang tight.

Those quilts simply rock.
