Day 360 - March 24, 2011 - Surgery

Image
Today my youngest grandson had surgery. He is 6 months old but when he was born they could not circumsized due to Hypospadius, his pee hole was off center and he had a bit to much skin. They had to wait till he was this age so that it would be easier on him to be put to sleep for the procedure. This is Braden be readied for his surgery. Putting on his band. He has learned he has a tongue...the funny thing about that is that my family seems to have a thing about sticking out their tongue when they are concentrating on something. It seems to move down from one generation to the other. This is Mommy (my daughter) reasuring herself that he will be okay. There is nothing any better then a baby's laugh and to see the smile that goes along with it. Being checked out. His band. Although he had not eaten or had a milk bottle since 10:30pm the night before he never got fussy over being hungry. But he did get a bit fussy and the eyes got heavy, so Nana (me) held him close and rocked him. He...

Day 359 - March 23, 2011- Old Hermitage Church, Tulip Grove Mansion-Hermitage TN

Image
Just a jump and a skip away from The Hermitage, Home of President Andrew Jackson is Tulip Grove Mansion. The home was built for Andrew Jackson Donelson who was married to the President and First Lady Rachel's niece, Emily Tennessee Donelson. On the grounds of Tulip Grove you will find The Old Hermitage Church, a church that the President himself took the lead in having built when the older church burned. He supplied 3 acres of land to build the church. The church was built in 1823. Andrew and Rachel Jackson are not laid to rest here but they are laid to rest on the grounds of the Hermitage in the garden. If you happen to make it to the Nashville area drop by the Hermitage and the Church. Go sometime during nice weather so you can walk and enjoy the slave cabins and the grounds. Upon looking up info for this blog I read where the Tulip Grove Manison is now closed. I know that once upon a time they would not allow you upstairs due to the weaking floors and I am hoping that it is t...

Day 358 - March 22, 2011 - Two Rivers Manison - Still Standing

Image
This historial home is located in Donelson Tennessee. The property was established in the 1790's. The first home still stands on the property behind the manison by William Harding. The mansion was built in 1859 by Willima Hardings daughter and her husband David McGavock. The house is now owned Metropolitan Government and the Board of Parks and Recreation. The home is open for tours but it is also used for weddings. My brother and his wife Kim renewed their vows here years ago during an outdoor ceremony. I took their daughter Holly out shooting the other day and this is one place we ended up. We both got some really great shots. I love this side view with the beautiful columns. Not sure if this is the original home or not. Check this work out...they don't make them like this anymore. And now a shot of both together. Thanks for stopping by and if you happen to be in Nashville, head on to Donelson (about 20 mins. out of town) and view this beautiful home.

Day 354- March 18, 2011 - On the Way to and From

Image
Normally I have my point and shoot with me at all times but for the sunset this evening I learned that it needed charging! I don't usally have my Nikon with me going to and from work unless there is an event that I will be photographing at work. Yesterday however I did take the Nikon with me cause I knew I would be leaving work a bit early and since things are in bloom I thought I could get a few shots.. Luck was with me on having that camera with me... As I was driving through my mom's subdivison (my dog goes there daily to Granny's to play with her dogs)...I looked in the rear mirror and saw this~~~ At 7am in the morning it was beautiful and helped to start my day with a smile. No...I did not shoot this as I drove, I stopped and got out. Then on my way home I had the camera set on auto and was ready for the view. I knew I had to catch this shot as I drove by (no, I did not stop this time). But aren't the Bradford Pears so pretty? Then while stopped at a red ligh...
