Monarchs, Crows, Cats, Flowers, Door Decor and Brick Books
Aren't they so pretty.
There is a slight difference in
the male and female, but
both are so pretty and
I am pretty sure I would not
know the difference if I saw
one outside, unless they
were together.

Do you know that these beautiful
butterflies are on the decline?
Apparently, thanks to years of
chemicals for killing off weeds,
bugs and whatever else. This is why
I use vinegar, salt and dish washing
liquid. I have found, for a small amount
of weeds, it works. I thick mass of
weeds, not so much. I still try my
best to know use chemicals.
I found this very interesting.
When a crow feels sick, it heads straight to
an ant nest... not to eat, but to TEASE the
ants. It shakes its body, fluffs its feathers,
climb all over it. As they swarm through its
feathers, the ANGRY ants release formic acid,
a natural chemical that kills bacteria, mites,
and parasites hiding in the crow’s body.
The crow knows exactly what it’s doing. This
ritual, called “anting,” is their natural way of
healing. Sometimes they even pick up ants
with their beaks and rub them directly onto
their feathers like medicine. No vet, no pills,
just instinct. Nature gave them the CURE
long before we invented one.
However, get in a mess of
fire ants, that might be a dead bird.
I also read this~
faces for years and are known
to hold grudges.
If threatened, they recall the person and can
info across generations!
I think my grands and greats are
safe, I don't think I ever have
been mean to a crow.
I had a doc appt Friday, and on
my way home, I had to stop and
pick up some wet food for
Lily Bit. I shop for her food at
Petco which is 20 mins away and
the only pet store close by.
With all that said, I always stop in
and check out the fur babes.
There was a Tortie mom, found
with her litter that is now weened
and all doing well. Mom has been
adopted, as well as two babes, solid
black panthers. The only one not adopted
would have been the one I would have
went for first.
This baby.
I really wanted her....but I can't
do that. I think of several things when
I ALMOST do that sort of thing...
1. cost of adoption, food, vets
2. The fact that Lily has never forgiven me
for bringing in Misty and how much more
she will dislike me for another one
3. How hard it would be on Misty
sharing her mom with a shy, timid
baby, that would prob want to cuddle.
4. My age and who would care for them
if I go before them
Yes, those are the four factors I think
about.
But oh my gosh, this was the cutest
baby. I stuck my fingers it the
openings of the glass and she let
me scratch her head.
Her black panther sister on the
other hand, kept biting at my
finger and wanting to play.
It might have taken forever for
my Morning Glories to
grow, but when they did,
they took off.
Other morning I went to
get the mail I did not get
the day before and was
greeted with this beautiful
site.
When they took off,
they went wild.
Even to the point they look
like they are trying to strangle
out my marigolds.
Speaking of marigolds, they
also went wild. I have plucked so
many seeds that I am set, my
brother and daughter are also.
Now when I dead head, I either
toss the seeds in my so called
ditch or across the street at the
tree line in hopes they will
grow wild over there for years
to come.
A few post back I shared these two
pics with you, stating that once I
was done with them, I would
share them. BUT...I am not getting
to the finished stage fast, so I am
going to show you what I have so
far.
This is my favorite pattern,
course I love purple, and
the black just adds to it.
Here is the finished
"PAINTED" project.
Need to seal it and make a
big bow to go on it.
This is not for me.
This one however, is for
me. My favorite pattern again,
beigey, yellow and dark brown,
but I did add some purple.
This is for my front
door.
top it off, is all that is
left to do.
Have you been working on
anything fun? I have several
wooden pieces to paint but
sort of going slower with that.
I have however started working
on garden bricks again. I thought
at this point I would make them
look like books but to be used
as a doorstop or if wished,
in the garden.
I painted one last night for
part of my daughters bday in
Dec. I did it for the book that
she loved as a child,
The Best Nest.
As you can tell, there is
one that favors the book,
I wished I had Duck Feet also.
I did that one this Sunday morning.
It was my nephew's favorite
book. Gotta seal these and
put Ambers up till Dec. Chase's I
will take next time I
go to visit my brother.
For the book bricks, I have
decided to paint up more
children's books for my garden
next yr. thought I would also do
some adult ones for another section
of a garden.
Do you have flower gardens that
you decorate with more
than flowers?
Going to be searching for
a child's metal chair to
put out with the books.
Hoping all is well in your
world,
