Banana Bread / Apple Bread

My daughter is 36.5 yrs old but
when she was 7 here
granny got her a cookbook.
We made several things
out of this book.
But one that I have made
a lot over the years has
been the banana bread.

The first time I made it I realized
that it was missing some
special ingredients...
like cinnamon.
So I decided to add that
all with nutmeg  and
allspice. Pretty good stuff.

The other day I thought maybe I
should make apple
bread using the directions
to the banana bread but
putting canned apples
instead.

It turned out
GREAT.

If you want to give it a try here
are the directions.

Banana Bread or Apple Bread
3/4 cup sugar - I used raw stevia
1 1/2 cup mashed bananas (3larger)
or one 21 oz can of apple pie filling
3/4 cup veg oil
2 eggs
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup nuts (if you like)
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Heat over at 325
grease loaf pan 9x5x3 with spray grease
Mix sugar, bananas, oil and eggs in
large bowl with wooden spoon.
Stir in the remaining ingredients
Pour in pan
Bake until wooden tooth pick
inserted in center comes out clean.
60 to 70 mins.
Let cool 10 mins
Loosen sides of loaf pan and remove bread.
Let cool before slicing.
Makes one loaf.

Enjoy!
Thanks for stopping in,

I believe we should always revisit our old cookbooks. Those recipes got there for a reason -- and sometimes they are a wonderful surprise!

I used to have this cook book, Pam, but I gave it away through the years. Wish I had kept it. The banana bread sounds wonderful. Every Christmas, my son-in-law bakes us his chocolate chip banana bread, and it's so moist and Yummy. It's nice that you like to bake too.
