My Granny

Whoops…..not been blogging much, and I said I was going to change that!

Oh well. I actually have not been crafting much the past couple of weeks, I guess you can say that I have been gathering! Yes, gathering things to possibly craft with!

Okay, with that said let me go on with my short but sweet blog today.

This is my Granny. I have written about her before but today as I sit at work it hit me about something that my Mother just told me a couple of weeks ago.

My Granny always, and I remember this, always had a thing of sweet tea made. Not only that, she always had bottles of coke on hand. I don’t recall ever seeing her drink a coke, but they were there for whoever wanted one.

As for the tea, Mom told me although she always had it there, she never, never drank any. Instead she drank water from the faucet with lemon in it. I tried to remember back and although I remember her drinking the water, I could not remember ever taking notice that she never drank tea.

Granny drank that water and most times I remember seeing her with crackers in her hand to eat while sipping her drink. Every Sunday, until age and health took over, my Granny also cooked one of those BIG Sunday dinners. My aunts, uncles, and cousins would be there to enjoy that Sunday meal. We were at a disadvantage since Granny lived in Georgia and we lived in Tennessee but I recall those good meals when we were there to visit. Do you remember BIG family Sunday dinners with the extended family? What a gathering that could be.

During this conversation with my Mom she also told me that my Granny did not and would not eat lettuce. I kind of laughed cause that is one of my lest favorite items in a salad. I prefer my salad to a little of that and lots of other stuff. I never put lettuce on a sandwich or anything….so now I wonder, did I get that from my Granny? Stop for a minute and look back on your life, ever wonder what traits, likes, or dislikes you got from your parents, grandparents or great grandparents?

I do know one thing, my Mom’s side of the family, not sure if it comes from Granny’s and Granddaddy’s side, carry’s a strong gene. You can compare pics of family members, you can put your children’s pics up next to cousin’s pics, or your grandkids to your grandparents and you see it……you see the grandparents eyes or mouth..etc. So next time you wonder where you got that shape of eyes and color or that certain way you turn up your nose, the color of your hair or whatever, look back on those older family pics and enjoy! That is where you came from……

Maybe in my next blog I will show you some of those pics and how much

the family favors.

NOTE: Correction...even though I don't remember seeing my Granny

drink COKE....my Mom said she did and she loved it.

Key Ring Collection

Come join in the fun at A diamond in the stuff
and link up, its time to shine.

A few years ago I decided that it was

easier to pick up a key ring when I

traveled somewhere then to bring home

bunch of other stuff.

My friend Nancy's husband

travels a bunch so he picked me

up a few, and when they took a cruise

they picked me up a few more.

I had them balanced in my printers

tray hanging on the wall but

I was running out of slots in that so

I wanted to make something that I

could display them on....

I found this great frame with a wooden

backing instead of cardboard.

Found it next to my daughters

trash can to go out with the trash....

I could not have that....

I had a plan.

It worked out perfect and I still have

room for more!

Yesterday's Projects

First, I think I will start with the one

project that I did today...although

it was inspired yesterday, or

last night when my mind just

kept running..

The base part of the necklace

came from a broken lamp.

The center part from Ace

Hardware in the hardware

section and the top part

I am not really sure...It

must have fallen off something

I was taking apart cause I found

it on the craftroom floor.

Add a bit wire and a chain and

you have this.....

I must admit, I borrow ideas form

other blogs or now my new

found love

PINTEREST.

On Pinterest they had 3 baskets.

One with the wash clothes,

one with hand towels

and one larger one

for bath towels.

My space was limited

so I did not put up the

larger one for the bath towels.

I love this idea.

I also borrowed this from

Pinterest. Only I have seen them

done in spoons and forks. Several

hung together. I had to add my

own touch and stencil the ivy

on the side of mine.

I purchased these skateboard shelves

last weekend at a sale. I loved them and

thought my grandson Caleb would like

them in his room....

Problem, they are blue, his room

is camo.

So out came the brown spray paint.

Now it will fit really well in

his camo room.

Lamp Turned Candle Holder

Last year after Christmas I ran

across a really pretty lamp

at Fred's. I walked away

a couple of times but I

kept going back. I had

plans for that lamp.

The socket part where you

put the bulb was broken so

it was marked down.

Originally $24.99 and I

got it for $5.00. My friend

would be proud of my $5.00 buy!

Now according to the price

tag I would have paid even

more then $24.99 for it some

where else.

I cut the cord!!

And decided I was not going

to try and fix the socket

instead I had a plan to make

it a beautiful candleholder

with my brother Ray's house

in mind.

But I had to look for a whole year

for the right globe to attach to it.

Last weekend I visited the

Rehab Store and found what

I thought would work great.

And here is the lamp.

Now it really glows.

Finished product.

Love the detail.

Hope my brother and sis in law

like it.

Just ignore the dust on it!

Cooked Frog

Years ago when my son was younger

(he is 24 now) my friends mother

had a pond in her yard, and this

pond had tadpoles in it.

Cory wanted to watch a tadpole

turn to a frog.

Sounded like a great idea.....

We caught a few and a couple

did not make it but we had one

left.

Our tadpole changed into a frog nicely.
But we figured we would let him get a bit bigger
and let him go in the creek that ran next to the house.

Now mind you we raised this critter in a glass
vase, you know the big ones that you put those
fighting fish in......first it had just water, then we
added a rock for him and he seemed to enjoy
his home.....

He stayed on the kitchen cabinet but one day
while I was in a CLEANING mood, I decided that
he might want fresh air. So I put him in the shade on
the deck....only the sun moved.
When I went out, he had been cooked through
the glass......oops.....

And this is about how he looked.......legs thrown to the side and belly up.

Ball Jar - Dish Washing Liquid

Today has been a long and tiring

day.

I met Theresa (friend) at the

fitness center at 6am

this morning.....my day off and

I was working out at 6am.

From there we grabbed some eggs

and coffee.

From there I went to Wally World

to pick up some paint

so I could go to my daughters

house to paint the baby boys

room.

But between Wally World and

the painting I had time

to drill a hold in the

top of a Ball Jar

that I picked up at Goodwill

for .49 cents.

And using a pump from a lotion

bottle that I had been holding

onto just for this purpose...

I love it.

Taking It to a New Level

I have been messing with beads making

necklaces and earrings for a long

time, but I decided that I

needed to take it up a level.

A friend, Starla showed me some

of her work with beads and wire.

That just added the taste to my

mouth!

But before I show you that, I want to share

this......

The earrings are over 50 years old.

My Dad brought them back from Japan

for my Mom. She recently gave them

to me but I have piereced ears and these

had the screw on type. I just removed

them and added the wires for pierced

ears.

I wore them to work the other day

and everyone loved them, but I

felt that there was something not

right....

I needed a necklace! Off to Hobby

Lobby. I got the chain and the bronzed

color beads, and to work I went.

I had the black beads. But the above

necklace is what I turned out,

pretty good match I think.

Now to the NEW level!

First trys.

Then I looked on the internet for

ideas...and I found some

really neat things....

so I made this....

I love it!

So many ideas out there to

find on the internet....

I joined Pinterest back

during the holidays and I found

this cute idea for a necklace.

I borrowed the idea using

different charms.

I made this one for me.

The upper part is a ring with

keys on it...then of

course the heart. The Keys

to My Heart!

So loving that idea that I made

one for my friend Debbie for

her birthday.

The upper ring has the words

FRIENDS

written around it.

And since I had already had made

her some pearl earrings, I thought

the pearl was a great touch.

Now.....what shall be next?

House Sitting part 3

I have been house sitting for my brother for years esp. during the years that my nephew was traveling all over racing. But I have to say my adventures of house sitting this time for my brother was a bit more then I could really handle.

The KING messing with Lola

I think part of that has to do with the fact that I am becoming a “home body”! I like being home, I like my company….and of course, The KING’s company (my dog, Dakota).

I love to go out with friends but I also like coming home to my place. So I was stressing just a bit about just being at his house and away from my comfort zone. But the other fact is that nothing seemed to go right. Should have titled it the battle with the bird!

So if you are back from reading that post about the bird then let me continue now….

I arrived on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 11:00 at my brother’s house. My brother and nephew drove to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl the day or so before. My sis in law left out around 3 am that Sunday. So I was wondering what I would face with the big dogs in the house when I got there. But there were no piles or puddles, big or small…..dodged that bullet! I would have 6 dogs that I would be caring for. There is Moose, the chocolate lab, Chole the black lab mix, two outside boarder collies that in the winter time are inside dogs, and my niece’s dog, Maddie (she is the only small one of their bunch) and my dog, Dakota. On top of that, two birds, one being TJ (the one in the other post) and Lola. Now TJ is my brothers and Lola belongs to my sis in law, Lori. With that said, TJ is a one person bird, he don’t like, I am not crazy about him and he loves to rule the house. Then there was 3 horses, which I found to be the easiest to care for.

Sunday and Monday went well. TJ behaved those days cause I was there all day. The dogs went in and out and did their things. But being that the weather had turned off cold I was not going to be able to leave the dogs out to run during the day on Tuesday, so that meant they would be in the house from 6 till 4. So I closed off the rooms and they had the run of the kitchen, dinning room and great room since it is all open to each other.

Oh, the mess to face when I get home. Was I so worry about that, the dogs almost knocked me down getting out to the house when I got home but there were NO messes to deal with. They were great. There only problems I had with the dogs was keeping me up all night. I guess being away from my home and in a different spot I heard every move, drink, bite, snore and etc. that happened….not to mention the times they wanted to go out and none of them would come back in at the same time. Of course this is the day the battle with the bird started.

Then on Wednesday morning I woke to know water. It had gotten really cold out and a pipe outside broke and water was running down the drive. Luck would have it that I took a gallon jug of water with me, so I took a wash down bath and washed my hair with that. To top it off the cable was out when I turned on the TV to hear weather and traffic. Great…what a way to start the day. As I left the house, still dark, and my lights hit the water running down the drive I had to call my sis in law in Florida and she got the neighbor to come cut the water off. On my way to the end of the drive, there was skunk

out in the road, my luck I was sure he would spray and my car, and me would stink.
But seems like things were looking a bit better, he ran in a hole. So I continue my drive down the rode when a rabbit runs out and I had to dodge him. What a morning, I was so glad to get to work, which was my second day after a two week vacation.

The neighbor was unable to fix the pipe that day, so I stopped at my mom’s to pick up my dog (no I did not leave him at the house), she had a couple of gallon jugs of water for me. I stopped at my house to shower. Drove 25 minutes to my brothers, stopped at the barn to fed the horses then made my way to the house only to get out and reach in my pocket for the key

and discovered that they were in the pants I had worn that day, and they were at my house. Back in the car and headed down the long drive and the road to my house 25 minutes away. Got home, ran in and got the key and headed back 25 minutes to my brothers house. By this time I am getting nervous thinking about the dogs, they had been locked up in the house for 12 hours. Once again I was pleased and surprised, no messes.

I called about the cable only to find that they needed authorization to use the credit card on file to turn the cable back on. Little did I know until I texted Lori that this is suppose to be paid by that card every month without fail. Great……what’s going on here?

Anyway, there was another battle with the bird so I left and met a friend down the road about 10 minutes for dinner. I was not a happy camper and although I had not let the morning bother me, and I laughed about it all day, the evening with the bird and cable did not set well, I think I had enough.

After dinner, I drove back, it was dark and I barely missed that deer

that ran out in front of me! Crap, I went to the house, changed clothes and climbed in bed thinking that would be the safest place for me! Another doggie sleepless night.
Woke the next morning (Thursday), washed my hair in the sink again with bottled water and went to work, no mishaps. After I got home my brother called and asked about the cable, he then called and within 5 minutes, it was back on.

The rest of the week was not anything like Wednesday but come Saturday morning with lack of sleep and still being stressed, I left when Lori’s cousin came to clean. I showed here where to hide the key and later that evening I went back and fed the animals. Then I went home again only to return Sunday morning and take care of all. That evening the family returned, and all the animals were alive and well…..even the TJ.

THE PROMISE

Blogging…..

It seems I have taken on more and more and as

I have done that I realize that I am blogging less
and less.

I try not to make New Years Resolutions but instead
I find if I call them PROMISES to myself I try harder
to stick to them. Soooooo, with that said, I have made
a PROMISE to work on my blogging!

Along with painting more.

I have dubbed this the year of change and with the

                       year of change I joined a gym. Yikes, what was I
                                    thinking? LOL…..I plan on working out every other
                       day, upper body one day and walk some, then the next
                                  time I go in, lower body and walk. On Tuesday and
                     Thursday nights they have Water Aerobics that I hope
                                                   to work in also.

Now, why would I go and do something like this? One….
so out of shape due to health issues like sleep apnea and
fibromyalgia. Two….weight, I need to lose…and with
that, we will not say how much. Actually, I have to get
a gripe on this health. On reading I found that exercise is
great for the fibro, just have to take it slow and not push it.
And I know there will be those days where it is flared up and
it will make it really hard to go, but I have to judge that and
not let it stop me unless its really bad.
Wish me luck.

And one more PROMISE I have made to myself is to get

                                 my house in order. I have way to much stuff that could go,
                                 things I don’t need and I need to organize better. That one, my
                                 friends will probably be harder then working out!

Okay, this is my story and I am STICKING to it…..

House Sitting Part 2

This past week I have been away from my home

and I have been house/dog/bird and horse sitting

for my brother Ray.

Ray only lives about 25 minutes from me

but he is out in the country where I love

to take my camera and enjoy the sights.

The first day out, last Sunday, Jan.,1, 2012

I headed to my brothers home. After turning

on his road and heading to his house, I had

to stop and let a group of

Wild Turkey cross the road.

Yes, you heard me correctly...

WILD TURKEY.

This is just some of them, there were about 15 or so.

You see the curve up the road from the turkey?

When I made it to that spot I had to stop once

again to let four deer cross in

front of me.

These two animals were two of the

ones I was caring for.

The white one is Jack and the brown is

Misfire. Beautiful aren't they?

Meet Peanut. So sweet. Peanut is

known by my younger brother, Mark as

"My Little Pony with the Tina Turner Hair".

I was also in charge of watching 6 dogs. Only one

belonging to me and he stayed at his granny's

for a couple of those days.

This is Chole (black one) and my Dakota (AKA

The nice warmer outside weather and the running

and playing wore these babies out.

House Sitting with TJ (Bird)

Morning....I am back at work as of yesterday after being off two weeks.!

I went to my brother Ray's house to stay this week. He and the family are in Fla. and going to Disney World.

I went up to the house around 11 on Sunday. Lori and the girls left around 3:30 that morning.

The dogs were fine, no messes in the house, they were ready to go out. The little bird was in the cage, she is always in her cage. The big white freak'n mouthy bird (Ray's) was out. He sits on top of his cage all the time and even his bowls of food are up there. Last time I stayed Ray put him in the cage before they left but I guess he figured since TJ stayed out all the time it was not an issue. First, if you have not gotten it yet....I don't like that bird. I don't trust that bird. That bird don't like me. I tried befriending him but apparently he is a one person bird.

The bird behaved well for the first 2 days, cause I was there all day. But yesterday I came home to find that he flew to the dinning room chair (not the first time he has done this) and proceeded to tear stuffing out from where he ate through before. I went into panick mode..how am I getting that bird back to the cage, and in it. Holy crap. So I go over and hold out my arm and he hops on, I figure I can walk to the cage and stuff him in.....oh no, he knew better then that, he walked up the arm to the shoulder. He eyed me, I eyed him....till I decided I better not do that, he might peck my eye. With that said I started to walk across the room to the cage, him hissing at me the whole way, only to get half way there and him fly to the top again. I could not get him back on my arm then. SO.....after I ate I decided to put some bread in the cage. I let him watch me feed some to Ms. Lola, then I showed him his piece, JUST before I put it in the cage. After about 30 min. he went in, I ran over and locked him in. I knew there were two food doors (where you open to put the food in) that he had gotten out of before and the latches were broke, I made sure that the wires to hold them closed were tight. Then while I was bragging on the phone to mom that I WON over the bird, I look up to see him sitting on the cage again....little did I know that there were two more food doors on the back side that were also broke. CRAP! I did not think he would fall for the bread trick again......but I decided to wire those doors closed with all I could find at the time......this coat hanger! I undone it and wired it through the cage and around the door and tried the bread again. He fell for it! I WON, I WON! Then I went down stairs to the tools and found those kind of plastic things that you use to tie up wires and stuff and redone the doors on the cage. I could not have TJ cutting himself and bleeding to death.

He squawked at me, I squawked at him, he squawked, I squawked....need I tell you that I kept this going for a bit. And he squawks LOUD! After that everytime I walked past him, I told him I WON! He became silent and would not squawk at me anymore, like he was ashamed he lost! Silly BIRD. All this took place after work, after a dentist appt. for a cleaning and after I fed the horses. I was tired. BUT...TJ is in jail...I won.

Next post I will fill you in on my morning this morning.....wow, hoping this is not how 2012 will be.

Coffee Table Part 2

Months and months ago I found this coffee

table on the side of the road. It was in great shape

and it matched my end table.

I have not had a coffee table in years

cause I just flet that they got in the way

and were only good for propping your

feet on.....

But, after storing this in the shed for

months I finally got it out and I kind a

like having it in front of the couch.

But in looking around the living room the other

day with my dark couch and chair and some dark

furniture, I decided I needed to lighten things

up some....

So with my primer and paint I did this....

I love it but now I really have to do the end table!

Christmas Gifts

I was busy the last couple of weeks

before Christmas. Between

shopping and making things I

worn out now! lol

These cute things were made for

my two brothers and Brian, my boyfriend.

My brothers and I do not exchange

gifts but each year I try to give them

a little something.

Here is a Redneck birdfeeder.....

It was a big hit with my brothers.

This next item was made for

Diane at work. I thought about

putting candy in it but I decided

against that but it can be used

for anything.

This was a dirty Santa gift.

A Redneck wine glass.

I have seen these selling for

$15 or $16 but I made this

one for $1.50.

I made this for my friend Theresa.

She loves red roosters and I had

no clue what to give her, so

this idea came up. I think she loved

it.

My daughter loves cows so this is something

I painted for her.

Christmas Card 2012

Merry Christmas!

In 2004 I started painting a Christmas

painting that I would haved reproduced

into my Christmas cards.

I paint them on 8x10 flat

board. In the beginning I would

have a picture made of the painting

and I would take it and have it printed.

A few years ago I started scanning the

painting and taking it to have

4x6 prints made as my Christmas

card.

This opne is for 2011.

I think this was my 2008 card.

My 2004 card. Printed at the printers.

Thinking this was 2005.

This was 2009.

For 2010 I had my cards made from a picture I

took.

There are two more that I was not able to dig up

to show.

What have I been up to?

Christmas is almost here......

I have found myself so far behind on

everything and I am working

right up to the last minute.

A few weeks ago I finally sat down and

painted my Christmas card. This is something

that I have been doing for several years.

Difference is, I usually have it done

in August or September....this one

was finished at the end of November.

And they are in the mail now!

Years ago when my children were young

I started making them Christmas ornaments.

I would cross stitch them.

Then I added nieces and nephews,

brothers and then friends.

The last year I made them was about

10 years ago and at last count...

I did 25 that year.

This year I decided to do some for

my grandson's and one for my

great nephew.

Making ornaments and painting on top

of making Christmas gifts.

A REDNECK wine glass for

a dirty Santa gift.

And then this for a gift for

a friend at work.

She can use it as I have it or

put candy in it.

Now for the necklace and earrings...

I made these for me to attend

a Christmas party a couple weeks

ago. These are made from

paper clips. Love this.

And this next set is for a gift. Also made from

paper clips and a chain.

The next two gifts I made months

ago for Christmas gifts...actually

I had these done about 6 months ago!

Wow, was I on the ball, to bad I

dropped it along the way.

And there you have it.....I have been busy

working on lots of things.

Christmas Portraits

The other night I was asked to got to Gaylord

Opryland Hotel in Nashville to do some

family portraits of my nephew, his wife and

my beautiful great nephew.

Such a beautiful family to photograph.

The biggest issue was trying to keep Cole,

my great nephew from having the

wandering eye. He was so

into the lights.

But I managed to get a few great shots.

I so love this one of them sitting on the rocks.

Cole has such a great smile.

I have ever seen. It was fantastic.

Okay, so I have to agree that I have always

been a "GREAT" aunt but now for

real I carry that title and I am proud of

it.

Last night my nephew, Chase, his wife, Susan and

my GREAT nephew and I went to

Gaylord Opryland Hotel to

see the lights and take some

pictures. We were trying to get a

Christmas family shot for Chase and

Susan but Cole was more interested

in looking around at all the lights.

Plus, I was having lighting and flash

issues so I am not really pleased

with most of the pics. But with that

said, I must say I love this

shot....

Susan took this with her cell phone

camera and I love it! I so hate

to have my pic made but this rates

up there as one of my favorites.

I love little baby Cole so much and he

is such a sweetheart. Smiles and

laughs so much. He is a doll baby for

sure.

New Necklace

Wow, we all know how crazy this time of year

gets. I am so behind on Christmas gift making

and buying but I found a bit of time to

throw together a new necklace and

earrings for a Christmas party. The

colors went so well with what I wore.

Well, its made from round shaped

PAPERCLIPS!

Yes, it is. I used jump rings to connect them

and since they were open on one end I put

just a touch of clear glue on that opening.

Went great with my outfit that I wore

to the party.....

On November 12, 2011 I shot a wedding

in Columbus Mississippi. That was

a five hour drive from my house but

I was happy to do it since I was doing

there granddaughter getting married.

The brides family is a hoot so I had a great

time with it.

This is David, the GROOM.

laid his eyes on Abigail, his soon to

be wife.

The family was staying at a house

on campus, The Puckett House.

A victorian style home that was

an awesome place to shoot esp. since

Abby was wearing an ivory, victorian

style dress. It was beautiful.

inter painter in me so I used one

of my photos. But this year, I am

back on it.

I will scan this when its dry and add Merry Christmas

to it. I then just have 4x6 photos of it

to mail as my Christmas card.

Three years ago this month I was asked

to shoot my first wedding. I have

bought my camera for a hobby but

that hobby has really grown

to weddings and senior class

portraits...and I love it.

Through my "hobby" I have traveled

to different places to shoot a wedding.

I have done 3 weddings in Maryville, TN which

is a 3 hour drive from me. The longest

distance I have gone was to

Temecula, California for my

son's wedding to my lovely daughter

in law, Britney.

My last wedding did not take me

that far away but it did take me

on a 5 hour drive to Columbus, Mississippi.

A cute little town that reminded me so

much of the Georgia town that my mom

was born in.

Downtown, Main St.

These house were off Main St.

I so love the Victorian look.

This is Puckett House. It

is on the grounds of the college

and anyone can rent it out. The rooms

are $70.00 a night and to rent the downstairs

that is an additional $150.00.

The family of the bride stayed here and

the reception was held here.

Furnished with Victorian style

furnishings and so comfortable

of a place.

This is coming from upstairs to the

downstairs.

DJ's 3rd Birthday Cake

In September I made and decorated my youngest

grandson's b-day cake. Braden turned 1 year old.

Then in October I

did the cake for my oldest grandson, Caleb.

Caleb turned 11.

Two weeks later I was doing my middle

grandson's cake. DJ turned 3 years

old. And since he loves

tractors, this was the cake

I did for him.

Can't ever remember a child wanting to

eat cake before opening his gifts but

that is what DJ wanted to do.

I think he liked the cake Nana

did for him.

Now, I have a break till September 2012! Yay...

Fall Colors

I love the fall! I love the colors! I

love the crisp feeling mornings and evenings.

I just am not crazy about what comes

after fall!

The yellows are great...

The reds are fantastic.

And it looks so nice when you find

several colors right together...

And look at the blanket of colors that

have fell like a puddle on the ground.

Such a pretty spot to kick back and watch

the colors blow in the breeze.

Beautiful.

A week and a half ago the colors

were at their peak....and

although we still have a lot,

we also have some bare branches

now.

The colors come and go so fast

taking the crisp air and replacing

it with the cold of winter.....

Reclaiming my Craft Room

There are NO pic of how it looked before I started to

reclaim it......I sure did not want anyone to see

that mess....

But I like the finished product.

Years ago my brother owned a business and when

moving those offices he gave my Mom and

I some really nice bookcases. I had two and Mom

had several. I used them for just what they are....

bookcases. But that has changed now.....

They are now in the craft room and working out great

for holding all my stuff. Thanks to my daughter

for moving them for me since I have been dealing

with some pretty wicked back stuff.

As you can see I lined them up side by side and now I

can see everything.

This is the wall across from the bookcases.

The wooden piece I love but it is way to large

to move into the other room so I have left it here

and it holds a lot of containers of beads and

other things. Not showing a pic of that right

now since I still need to clean in there.

But what is helping to give me more room is

that were the table is is where my office desk was....sharing

an office and craft room was not working since my office

was not just a computer and printer, it held

my disc from my shoots, cameras, and equipment...

and more. That has been moved to the

guest room.

But.....the camera equipment will be stored in this

closet when not in use. I have my winter clothes

in there now but I am taking them out and

putting in shelves to store that stuff on.

As you can see I have room now in a small room to

get creative in.....Now, to clean the rest of the house

in plans of starting the creative flow this week

after work hours. I have so much to do before Christmas

and I also have another wedding to shoot

this coming weekend. BUSY, BUSY,

BUSY.......

My Little Halloween Spooks

Senior Photo Shoot - Justin

Meet Justin, he is a senior this year.

I remember the feeling of finally becoming

a senior, it was great. But back when

I was a senior these types of senior

shoots were not done, we just had the formal

type that went in the annual. I love these

types of senior pics.

This first one was taken in my brothers barn.

Love this shot, natural and outside and

Justin holding something that is very

special to him.

I love fall and the trees behind Justin in

this shot look great.

Once again, another shot of Justin and his

I love black and white photo's. This one turned

out great.

But then the sepia shots look great also.

ago and actaully we were seniors together.

Wildlife and More

I love to ride out to my brothers house and visit...

you never know what you will see. Last post

I had pics of the wild turkeys, today its another type

of wildlife.

A couple of weeks ago I was out doing a senior class

photo shoot for a young lady and when I was

leaving on the road my brother lives on I saw these

guys just standing in a yard.

When I went by I thought they were fake then I remembered

that there were no FAKE deer along that road. I pulled

over and got these first two pics.

Then last weekend I was out there doing

another shoot when leaving and riding

down my brothers driveway this guy ran right

out in front of me.

Now isn't she pretty. She stopped right at the tree line

and just stood there for my to take my shots.

And while doing part of my photo shoot down by

the barn I decided to snap a couple of good shots

of my niece's horses.

I was on the other side of the barn looking in and

Misfire was on this end, standing there watching me.

I thought it made a great shot with the sunlight.

Here again is Misfire and Peanut.

They kept hanging around then when I went

in the barn they would run in....so I fed them,

and before I left I think they were happy with me,

since I had forgotten to bring carrots or apples....

my next trip out there I will have to remember them

and pack a snack.

Great Nephew, Cole

This happy little guy was born 7 months ago, he

came into the world early and only weighing

in at 4 lbs and 6 oz....you could not tell it

today!

He is a happy baby and has such a beautiful

smile. His Aunt Kim, my sister

in law was playing peek a boo with

him and had him really laughing.

Loving that big beautiful smile.

Hey Aunt Pam, what you doing back there?

I love this shot of him. He was on the couch

and he looked over at me, I caught this

shot just in time.

He has no issues wearing a hat either. My

youngest grandson Braden, will take one off

as soon as I put it on him.

You probably can't tell it from this

pic comparing it with the ones I

took but this pic of him sleeping really

had me taking a double look....I

thought it was Chase, Cole's dad when

he was a baby. He looks just like his dad.

Caleb's Birthday Cake - 11 Years Old

this Sunday but tomorrow eveing he is having

his birthday party.

I have made his b-day cake every year except for one.

This year being no different.

Fall Wreath

Wanted a fast wreath for my front door, and

while surfing through blogs I saw several

made just using yarn.

So, off to Hobby Lobby I went and I got

Then back home I went and I dug through my yarn.

Loving these 3 colors together.

And this is my finished project. The yarn I

had and I got the leaves and flowers out of

my mom's box of silks.

Hello! I have been a bit under the weather with

back issues and sitting is not something

I can do very easily right now. I had Friday,

Saturday, Sunday and Monday that I have done

what I was told to do by the Chiropractor...

No sitting, lifting, bending, lay on ice! The way I

feel about that is.....I lost 4 days!

So this is Monday evening and I will attempt to

go to work tomorrow but before then, I had

to do something....

Not much, but something I have been meaning

to do and never got around to it.

I got this sign about couple months ago for

$2.99 at an antique booth like store but it

had no hangers on the back.

So I took some thin jute and made this.

With the aid of my stapler....

I finished it off like this. Now it hangs on

the front of my house as you come up the

stairs.

NOW...I feel like I did something!

My youngest grandson

Braden turned one year

old on September 20.

He was a bit excited!

I love it!

When my grandson,

Caleb was born I started making

and decorating his birthday cakes.

So when brother DJ came along I

started the same thing with him.

Well, of course Nana could not do

it for the other two and not Braden!

LOL

First let me go on record as saying

that mixing icing colors is not anything

like mixing oils to paint with....

And I really don't like doing it,

or even making icing...

But, I hope that one day

when I am gone, my grandson's

can look back and remember

the special cakes I made for

just them on their b-day!

With that said, let me show you

Bradens first cake~

Took 2 cakes mixes,

3- 8 inch square pans

icing and colors....

Icing between each layer and

stacked on top of each other to

make it high so it would

favor a block.

This is Mommy ligthing the

candle in hopes of Braden

blowing it out...

that did not happen.

that reaction!

Then he starts grabbing for

the cake as Mommy brings

I am laying here, flat on my back,

with ice....I am having some major back issues and

the my chiropractor suggested I take today off,

stay in this position until today's visit.

I say the pain is less this morning then

yesterday. Hoping for a full recovery.....

That out of the way, I want to say that I love

fall. Today has turned off cooler and the leaves

are just now getting a hint of color change to them.

But another reason I love the fall time is

that it produces the most prettiest sunrises

and sunsets.

On my trips to work this week I viewed two really

pretty ones that I would like to share.

This one was taken on Wed.

Beautiful!!!

And this one was taken on Thursday. I looked up

as I was leaving Dunk'n Donuts getting my coffee....

Not as pretty as the day before but it was nice.

had to have surgery. All was well and

he did fine. Of course this

Great Nephew ~ Coleman

Now I have always known that I was a great aunt! lol

But until Cole came along I didn't get that title...

He was born in March, early and weight in a little

over 4 lbs....and look at him now!

Beautiful baby boy.

I kept this little guy last weekend and I loved it.

He is so sweet.

And of course I took the camera...

He played so well.

But we had to try out all the toys!

Reminded me so much of when I use to keep his

Daddy.....it was like loving on Chase all over

again.

Night Shooting

Playing around with a Nikon D3100 and I love it...

but I am still thinking that I will take it

up one more step to the D5100 as my

up grade.

But these are some shots I got with the D3100.

Just off the porch, down the drive and thru the

trees, I caught this...

And hanging off the eve of my porch I found this

guy. Now let me say first that I did not

get to close because my biggest fear is

a spider. But I have to admit the webs

are a work of art....check this one out.

And here is from another view. Look

at the work that goes into that, and it

will be gone in the morning.

Got this critter (whatever he is) climbing up

the rail.

But just ahead of him was this greeny looking spider.

I never hold the rail at night as I walk down the steps...

On the birdbath turned planter I saw this guy.

A Dog on the Roof.....For Real

Oh My Gosh....How Cute is He?

I had my youngest grandson at the house

a week or so ago while is Mom was working.

So I had to get the camera out and play.

My sis in law gave me a couple of old

suitcases so I thought I would try Braden

in one of them. I draped a tie around

his neck and hung a hat on the corner.

This is how that shot came out....

I had to take several of course while I had

him still.

I loved this one and I loved it more

when I made it sepia to give

it the aged look.

While I was playing around with that one

I decided to play with some other ones

I had taken. I really did not care for this

shot until I put the sepia to it but it

was even cuter as a print.

I love that look..that one eye

peeking out from under the hat.

I might be his Nana but I think he is

just plain adorable!

New Wall Arrangment

I have been wanting to redo the arrangment over

my couch so I have been trying to decide which

pic I have taken that I wanted to have framed

to hang. I did decide that I wanted all black and

white and I wanted to go with a rustic look.

Here it is, with room to add a few more

prints if I decide to.

I knew I wanted other things mixed in with it

besides just prints. So I picked this up

at an antique store for 2.99.

The star I picked up for 3.99 at the same

antique store.

The candle latern I picked up at Goodwill

for .99 cents.

The iron plate I picked up at the antique store

for 4.99. Thought it would look good hanging

along the side of the prints.

Now onto the prints. This print I took about

6 months ago while driving around. I edited

it in sepia with a spotlight over the top

of the barn. Printed as 8x10.

These two prints were taken in 2009 in a small

town about 45 min. from me. It is of light

post and I have done it in sepia also.

These two prints were taken a couple of

weeks ago while out riding around

with my camera. One is some sort of

farm equipment and the other one

is a broken down wooden wagon.

This print is a 4x6 matted in a 5x7

frame. It is on a log cabin home next

door to a friends house.

This is also a 4x6 print unmatted.

Just a print of barn doors.

These 4 prints- 4x6 were taken

a couple of years ago on the dock of my

brothers lake. I was needing a chair

project for a fund raiser that was centered

around using chairs. This was titled

" Charish the End of Summer Fun".

The first pic is just the lone chair on

the dock where the woman had been

sitting looking out and wondering about

taking that last summer swim. She gets up

to walk around the lake.

The next shot she has taken her hat off and hung

it on the chair as she goes back to look into

the water.

The 3rd print you will see the chair, the hat

and her shoes laying near the bottom

of the chair. She has taken them off

to go wade in the lake.

But on the last print, she has taken

off her skirt and shirt and has taken

that last swim in the lake.

Sun Bonnet Sue on the Beach

I use to take a class for oils, that is when I learned

that I could paint, I was years old then.

So that goes to show that its never to late.

I stopped taking classes about years ago but

I have continued to paint some.

When I started with my photography about 3

years ago I kind of put painting on the side.

Not only due to that but also due to the

fact that I have them stacked everywhere in

the craftroom and hanging on the walls....I

was running out of room.

But a few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to

paint something. I have not picked out what

I wanted to paint for my Christmas card this year

so I was not ready to start that, so I picked a little

girl on the beach.

Here she is drawn out.

And this is the starting of putting on the color.

This is her as she continues to improve with

color.

I kind of got the outfit out of sorts and ended up

making it a bit wider under the arm then it needed

to be....so that was something I was going

to have to fix....

She is coming right along now. It has taken me

weeks to finish her since I only work on it here

and there.

But last night I finsihed her. Isn't she the cutest?

Trying to make the effort to get back into blogging

my photo's again. Things get so busy at times that

somethings like blogging get put on the back burner.

But here goes the effort! lol

The other morning I was headed out to work and

at the stop sign I had to look to the left to be sure

that there was nothing coming so I could head out

to the right when I spotted this guy just sitting

around.

and since I always have a camera with me, I

had to take it out to photograph him.

But he was just to far off so I a made that turn

to the left instead of the right so I could

get a better shot.

He just sat there looking down at me with no

fear in the world until he turned his head away from

me to more or less say he was over it!

I then made a u-turn to catch him from the other

side. He was so beautiful.

A Bucket or a Bowl - See for yourself

What a neat idea....using plastic buckets for bowls at

a pool party. I love it.

Okay, to these are not bowls...but still a neat idea for the

kids also.

Now this is a bowl. And look...it has little fishy

swimming around in it. To cute.

And the shovel is the spoon.

It did not stop there.....we have salsa and dip, plus the

chips.

Another bucket with cole slaw in it.

What better way to serve cold items at a

pool party. Great idea Marilyn. Everything

was so nice and decorated really good.

Our Loss, Heaven's Gain

Its been awhile since I was on here blogging. Last

year I was doing that 365 day thing where I

posted something everyday. I started it again

this year even though I thought I should not....

should have went with my heart on this one for

I failed! Not getting 365 days out of

me this year.

My family suffered a loss this past week.

On August 16, 2011 my aunt Carolyn past

from this earth to the heaven above. An I

must say Heaven gained a new angel that day.

My aunt was healthy for a 72 year old woman that

raised three children and was married to her

husband for 53 years. She was healthy except

for the mind robbing alzheimers that had started

to eat at her slowly. She had her good days

and she had her bad. But on the 16th she went in

her sleep from a heart attack. She went without

pain, she just past quietly away. There is nothing good

about losing someone but like her daughter said,

she left us before the alzheimers had the chance to

rob her of her memory anymore then it did.

I spent a many a days at my aunts house with my cousin

Kathy when we would go to visit in Georgia. My aunt

Carolyn was the first to introduce me to a mayo and

tomatoe sandwich.....oh thank you Aunt Carolyn.

She had a soft speaking voice and a caring heart that

was full of love for her children, grandkids and her

7 great grandkids. She has left us all with memories

that we will carry with us as we hold her close

to our hearts. She will be truly missed.

Day 90 - July 25, 2011 - There are Back...Sort of

The Cicadas visited us back in May...stayed

for weeks and they let you know they

were around with the loud noises they

made.....I mean LOUD!

There thousands upon thousands of

them. That batch were known

as the Periodic Cicadas.

Coming out every 13 to 17 years.

But now we have been visited by the Annual Cicadas.

Not many have appeared but these bad boys

come once a year.

They are fatter, don't have the orange eyes and the wings

appear to be longer. But after weeks of the

noise we put up with, I was surprised when I heard

these guys. I thought maybe they were really

late bloomers! The internet helped with my

learning about the differences.

Day 89 - July 24, 2011 - Center Hill Dam

I was kidnapped yesterday by Brian to go for a ride.

We had lunch and took off to Center Hill Dam in

DeKalb County. Nice beautiful ride and the

dam area is so pretty.

This is off the the side of the damn, caught this view

as I stood on the road over the dam.

There is water that apparently leaks out around the

dam and comes out in caves along the bank.

This is all the water that was flushing out.

Isn't that such a pretty view.

Day 87 - July 22, 2011 - Hungry!

While at the lake the other day off the side of the dock

my sis in law and I watched all these little

fish swimming around. We had just

finished dinner so she threw in a fry.....

And before I could blink this big guy came up and

grabbed that fry off the top of the water. He must

have been there, right under the surface but a bit more

down then the little ones. Next fry, produced about

5 of these big ole guys.

Day 86 - July 21, 2011 - Who is Who

I love looking at old pics of my kids and now

of my grand kids. I love to see how they all

favor.

In this first pic titled Caleb ~ my grandson that is almost

11 yrs. old. The photo next to him is his little

brother Braden. Braden is not yet a yr. old.

But look at that, how much they favor.

Now compare the photo of this little boy...

It is Cory, my son. Yes, the two boys

favor Cory a lot but.....Cory is

their uncle!

I love it!

The little girl in this pic is Amber, she is

my daughter and the mother of Caleb

and Braden.

If I had a pic scanned to show you Amber as a baby

you would see just how much Braden and Caleb favor

her also.
